Maybe maybe not. I don’t buy him not being able to burn a year off his ELC or not guaranteed a roster spot being it. He could have felt that way but I just think his advisors would have gotten him to move off such an immature position. There’s more to it.

Any chance Cutter and his advisors were looking big picture. Medical misadventures. Player development issues. A succession of old school coaches giving youth the hook and not letting them work through mistakes while vets get a long leash.

I agree with the big picture analysis, and the evidence seems to point to that, but people here get locked in and nothing will persuade them.

1. Cutter didn't want to stay with the Flyers for the ELC reasons and he showed his dissatisfaction by returning to college for 1 more year. Then he agreed to a trade to a club where a roster spot has also not been guaranteed (statements by Verbeek suggest he will again have to earn a spot).

2. Cutter is a prima donna, even though there is no evidence of that in his past and evidence to the contrary. (statements by his coach).

3. Cutter himself says there were lots of reasons. But hey, why the hell would we believe him over the Flyers?
