The Flyers have always been able to get some nice pieces. They have a bunch now. I'm not looking for lightning in a bottle and hoping a team gets lucky for one season and goes on a run. I want a perennial contender to up the odds. The former is just too much of a long shot.

Here is the problem. This Flyers team needs elite talent. Watching recent games against Colorado, TB and Boston clearly shows that. Clearly shows what players like McKinnon, Kucherov and Pasternak can do for a team. The Flyers can trade Konecny for a nice return but it is unlikely to be a return that nets the Flyers an elite player and a player that is a true difference maker. Maybe they get lucky with a later first round pick. That does happen but it's not reliable. The other side is what will it cost to re-sign Konecny? Should they get into an 8 year deal and a 8M or so AAV? The more I think about the more I say no. Konecny is a pretty good player but he is not a true difference maker. Can't get into that deal. Until the Flyers get that elite talent. They'll never likely be more than just a good team. Right now the hope is on Michkov.

I think TK with an elite offensive center goes to another level. Being basically the top scorer for the Flyers, he’s a 30+ goal scorer. Put him with an elite 1C he’s probably a 40+ goal scorer. He showing this season good PK ability. For a contender he’s one of the more attractive players to acquire since he’s also on a good deal through next season. In my previous posts, I was talking about if they retained 50% like someone else had asked. I don’t believe they’re even considering trading TK at all. There’s no way they’d trade him for the same return as they got for G. So unless someone is giving up more than that TK will remain a Flyer.

Oh I’m not saying the Flyers resign him based on that thought. I’m saying that idea may make a team willing to give more for him. Then he can get a big deal elsewhere.

Flyers are the 3rd best regular season team of ALL-TIME (including Vegas) and that means...

Exactly, only potential elite player in the whole system is Michkov. Where are they getting the other 2-3 elite players? The teams that have won multiple cups in the last 15 years all had 3-4 elite players.

I look at the Flyers right now as kinda similar to Vegas in the early years. Solid team exceeding expectations but lacking a 1C and 1D. You can’t bank on acquiring players like Pietrangelo and Eichel the way Vegas got them.

My gut keeps saying Drysdale, if he develops, becomes like the next Eric Desjardins. That would be a good thing but those 90’s Flyers teams needed another top end D to put them over the top and they never got him.

In his prime, Desjardins was a top 5 NHL defenseman. I'd be shocked if Drysdale reaches that level. Happy but shocked.

With TK making 8-9, Tippet 6+, Couturier <8, Sanhiem 6+ how are they going to fit 2-4 elite talents under the cap

9ers and KC make for a better Super Bowl. Mahomes would obliterate that Lion secondary.

Until Michkov touches NA soil, I'm not counting on him. We need at least 2 more elite players. Top center and top wing/sniper. I'd love a firm #1 dman. Unless TK can get us an elite guy, we resign him.
