There was a story out there that a team (St. Louis?) offered a 1st for Laughton, but I don't buy that for a second.
- MBFlyerfan

was form credible sources, I buy it.

I think Laughton would have retrieved a late 1st round pick this past off season, but I highly doubt it now. With the signing of Poehling, it seems clear to me Laughton will be traded at the deadline.

RP has nothing to do with a Laughton trade or it shouldn't. RP is strictly a 4th line player who the coach seems to be enamored with. Don't get attached to players he said.

That being said he should be traded 100%. No matter if a division "rival" or not.

The Flyers did not have to extend either play right now. Sure they like the players, no doubt. But I believe the Flyers expedited the process once Gauthier decided not to play for the Flyers. You have to think the Flyers still have Michkov out there, and he is I'm sure watching the Flyers and how things are progressing. It's good for him to see that players want to not only play here, but to commit to playing here for a long time. I am sure this played a factor.
- jd250

dont you think they were in negotiations for a while? Or did it just come up

What stats did Laughton have last season that would have gotten a first for him? IMO, they maybe could have gotten a second. He is an average player.
- WhiskeyMan

a career high 43 points. Under control for several years. Players like him have returned a first.

One would hope that he's just trolling and trying to get a rise. For his sake. After all he has played, coached and watched hockey for too long to not see what he sees.

when i look at the flyers prospects n LHV and juniors I shrug my shoulders. No one stands out as this elite level type player.

Bonk could turn out pretty good. Big Dmen usually a little longer to develop. He is on the right path. He should grow leaps and bounds the next 3 years.

So maybe it’s not just Cutter who (as many of us believe) doesn’t like being told “no, you’re not ready”.

Yes a story/rumor and wasn't Sanheim supposed to be part of that trade and Krug was part of the return?

Of course its not just Gauthier. One would expect a player to feel that way. Have to believe in yourself.

Supposed to be a primarily big defensive dman who can contribute offensively. But lately he has been lighting it up like a prime forward. It's ridiculous! 9 goals and 11 assists in his last 10 games. 50 points in 37 games.

They were smart though….they told him what he wanted to hear ….he SIGNED. Now they can control him.

Bonk is just starting to take that next step….watched his game the other night for a couple of periods…he was the best player on the ice. Has all the tools, all the pedigree. Could end up being one hell of a player.

He seems to have really gained confidence since he made the WJC roster as an underager AND played well on top of that.

You made the statement, it is on you to back it up. But looking into your post, I see Tampa did overpay for him in 2020. But they traded him away the next season for a 7th round.

So you are correct, teams do make stupid mistakes

There's a world of difference between a guy that's seen NHL time and has been very good in the AHL, and a drafted 18 yo kid that's still in college and has never sniffed the grind of professional hockey.

I know, on paper and on the scoreboard it seems like the Flyers' best game in the past decade. But I just noticed something .. they looked slower to me, they looked out of sync, and I honestly think they got a bit lucky with 1. Dallas not showing up, 2. the penalty shot goal that I believe should have been disallowed and 3. that Tippet goal which though amazing I doubt he would have scored if he tried it 100 more times. I have played, coached and watched this game for too long, and I just saw things that bothered me. I knew this was going to be a tough stretch of games, but was hoping the Flyers would beat Ottawa and maybe get one of the other 4 games. It turned out they got Dallas and nothing else.
- jd250

But your thinking is flawed. You are the ONLY person complaining about that game...it was 5 games ago. They kicked a$s, won, and have looked like shlt since.

The PS goal counted, no matter what you think. He didn't go backwards or stop, he stumbled, and shot the puck.

What does it matter if Tippett doesn't make that shot ever again? He did in this game, it was a goal, a highlight reel goal at that, and nit picking at it is just that...nitpicking.

Continuing to insist about the Dallas game looks foolish, as everyone here seems to have disputed you on this, even Bill on multiple occassions.

You appear to be wrong more often than right.

I see Poehling as a younger version of Laughton, that is NOT strictly a 4th liner.

When I watched some early games this year he didn’t seem to want to shoot. Was playing solid as advertised but not dynamic in anyway. Now they cant stop him from shooting….they moved him into a bumper/rover position on the PP which shows how smart they think he is…and he’s taken off.
I think the wjrs showed him where he stood…and your right…his confidence took another leap.
