perso I wouldn't. like someone said yesterday, we have enough big finns who can't score.
but,
Kakko was drafted by Gorton. that would be the same type of trade as Dach and Newhook, depending on the price... if it's the best offer they have for Monahan.... who knows? |

What holds more value now? Kakko or a late first from the Rangers?
I'm not even sure.

Kakko plays is in the NHL, who knows if that pick would even reach that point. The problem with Kakko is his skating is very average and he is not often engaged in battles, he floats a lot. |

hes still young but this is a set back year for him + he has been a few years in the league now
a late first round pick or Kakko?
Knowing that they could trade the said pick to a guy they like better |

At that point, he feels like a guy that will end up as a middle six forward.... I wouldn't hate getting him, he's definetely a NHL player and would be a good addition to our team but.... unlike Newhook or Dach, I don't really see that much upside.

the problem with Kakko is that he makes 2M+ and needs a new contract. while not contributing much. I'd take the pick. |

I like the project but Habs are filled with projects now, maybe focus on another prospect and get a pick you could use to package for something more interesting than Kapoute |

they can trade that pick for an asset, they did it twice in a row now (Dach, Newhook)
I agree with you that Hughes may want a young player instead of a draft pick, but he will have more options in the off season than Kakko |

I am not a fan of the Newhook trade, I think it was an overpayment. There is a price to pay for a known asset that had a few years to develop from his draft year, Habs have to pick the right horse. Dach is fragile, Newhook is fast but does not drive a line, Habs need quality. |

well you wont get connor bedard for a late first round pick or celibinini
I like Newhook but he might be better on the wing than at C. Too bad he got hurt, he was getting better and better.
Maybe Dach will stay healthy next season, but we were hoping the same thing for this season. But the thing is, you dont get a Dach type of player for the 12th round pick. Chicago dont trade him at all if he is not fragile
If you want a top prospect or young player, then you have to be ready to trade a top 5 pick or something close to that.
Everybody like to crap on Pacioretty, but that guy had value on the market when he got trade. And Suzuki is probably much better than a lot of people expected or give him credit for.
But they dont have anything close to a guy like Pacioretty right now to pull that kind of deal.
I still think they should try to get another first round pick in 24 and go from there. We dont know where the Habs will draft either, just yet. |

I think you have more flexibility with a 1st, if the plan is to make packages for players.
Depends if HuGo have already identified player(s) they'd like to try to trade for and what they think the cost will be. |

I think its 29 days this year
I had no idea what you were talking about and had to look it up to make sure.
But the 28 days have been very popular in QC in the last few years. I know 0 person who ever did january. But a poop load who did february over the years
Probably a cultural thing, yet again |

Yeah, did not know about the Quebec one til now. Interesting.
I had vaguely aware of the dry January stuff before, but it has been all over social media this year.
I rarely drink anyways, cannot even recall the last time I had any alcohol.
