Everything Rodgers turns to poop! Jays suck, Sportsnet sucks, their cell service is overpriced, they need to leave MLS&E because their influence there taints the sports teams. Hopefully, TSN ends up with the National TV rights in a couple of years. Sportsnet blows!

Agreed, but don't forget that door to door Bell reps were selling Internet to elderly people with dementia.

About once or twice a year I will get some McDonalds. Usually out of convenience if I am out somewhere, in a hurry, or running errands. It never fails to disappoint. It's not the McDonalds my old ass grew up with in the 70's.

It's not even cheap any more. A Quarter Pounder value meal runs about $11 before you supersize it, then it runs about $12-$13. Almost $15 after tax. I can go to Five Guys and pay $15 and get a better quality burger. Fries are just filler and I usually have my own drink. I'll toss a tip and spend maybe a buck or two more than I would spend at McDonalds.

Blues won the Cup with Binnington in net.

Blues. Won. The Cup. With Binnington. In Net.

Leafs can win the Cup with Woll.

If you don't believe this, leave the room. Just get the (frank) out and log off.

Blues did NOT have Matthews, Matthews mustache, or the depth the Leafs have.

I'm not making any bold predictions, but I am saying things are not as doom and gloom as some say. Just need to make it to the dance and everything will sort itself out.

Binnington.

they also had Pietrangelo, Parayko, ROR, The Bozak. Toronto has none of those

Rielly = Pietrangelo(ish)
Parayko = Brodie on coke
ROR can't carry Matthews' jock.

There is no comparable to Matthews on that Blues roster. He's objectively better than any forward the Blues had in the finals.

Blues did have better depth on defense, tougher team culture, and Fat Balloon Part Two Electric Boogaloo.

Schwartz got 12 goals and Tarasenko got 11. How many goals does AM have in a single playoff? yeah hes a way better regular season player to date.

Schwartz had 10 goals in 49 career playoff games before that year.
Tarasenko had been previously productive with 22 goals in 44 games.

Nylander has had 17 goals in 50 career playoff games.
Marner has had 10 goals in 50 career playoff games.
Matthews has had 22 goals in 50 career playoff games.

You don't know when a player gets it or when a player steps up. Do I have faith that these Leafs are those guys? As frustrated as they make me, they are to - at least to me - at the age where they know what they have to do - and last year some of them stepped up. We need more. More consistency. More effort. More.

But I really don't like the defensive group we have outside of Rielly in terms of being able to go deep.

Rielly is and has been far better offensively that Pietrangelo ever was - but Pietrangelo is a vastly superior defenseman. Let's face it - in the playoffs both have a role, but there are times when you need a defenseman out there and if he is also your best skater, it's a blessing.

"Far"? Meh. Not really. After a quick check both seem average about .590ppg. Actually, P is a minuscule better.
Rielly has two outstanding pts seasons, orher than that they are pretty similar. Rielly also plays with am, marner and wille at times.
Pietrangelo brings everything you need to win in the playoff.
Hes been far superior.

I still stand by my original point, which is : if that Blues roster is capable of winning a Cup, then this Leafs roster is also capable of it. This assumes the old "all things being equal" with coaching, path to the Cup, injuries, luck, etc.

I won't let silly things like facts get in the way of a good optimistic narrative put forth by a forum clown with no qualifications whatsoever (me).

Rielly has had 3 seasons that are notably better in points per game than Pietrangelo's best seasons. Pietrangelo's bests seasons in points per game, by the way, happened at ages 30 and 33 - Rielly is still only 29. I'll grant that Pietrangelo has largely played on teams that do put defense first (and surprise! Both won the Cup!), but if we're being objectively fair about the best PP defensemen on each team - they get the chance to play with their team's best players, and whether it was ROR, Tarasenko, Eichel, Stone, Karlsson, Stephenson, Schenn or whomever - both guys have had their fair share of offensive players to play with.

But I am not trying to make the point that Rielly is better than Pietrangelo - Pietrangelo plays well at both ends of the ice. Rielly plays well at one.

Binnington was lights out during that run. But, nobody had heard of the guy before that.

Toronto has as many (or more) elite players on their roster than St. Louis did.

The pieces are there to win.

Why don't they win? Defense? Team culture? Pencil necks? Coaching?

I also think Matthews is great enough to put this team on his back and drag them to victory. He's a (frank)ing beast, he just hasn't gone full super saiyan yet.
