Beauty of it is there's no telling what the future holds so can't sit around just waiting. Injuries, bad performance, lots of things can happen next year, why wait? Rentals are fine.

Part of overseeing a team is knowing when to go all in, this may not be one of those years.
Unless players coming back have term. But even adding 1 top 4 dman doesnt change the complexity of the team as much as they need.
They need two top 4 dmen, an impactful 3rd liner...maybe even a goalie.

Maybe they turn it on after the break enough to change Tre's mind to go all in.
That would be fun

I’m not saying I know for sure but with how Dubas went and got hired up by another team with Shanny’s position practically right after saying he could use a break is a bit of a red flag for me.

Makes me worry that moves that shouldn’t get made still will occur. I’m agreeing with you atm, a couple small deals at best and no more. Sadly I won’t be shocked if it’s notably bigger however.
