Interesting stuff.....trying to figure out who you meant instead of Soucy comnig from the Pens in the 2nd trade there...or if you just mistakenly put him there. The only Pen with a cap hit right around that 3.25 is Carter haha.
I would love Boone Jenner on the Pens...do the Jackets really want to trade their captain, though?
EDIT: its possible you meant that both these treades go down (if they are trading Jake) and thats where Soucy from the Pens comes from.
So if that is the case:
Out: Jake, Graves, Smith, B prospect, 1st and Pickering
In: Kuzmenko, Hoglander, Boone Jenner and Provorov
I'm struggling with this one hahaha.....the Pens lose the best player, a player I dont want to lose at all, but might be a deeper team overall if so.
- MattStrat
Ya Jake for Kuz and Hog would be a bit of a risk for sure but could also pay off big and make them deeper. Kuzmenko with Sid could still be VERY good as well for next season.
Graves for Provorov I think is a pretty big win now and in the future to shed Graves. (nucks were a team interested in Graves in the offseason)
Jenner for Smith is more of something I think the pens need. Not sure any team wouldnt want Boone on there team especially in the playoffs. Could have Boone in the middle with Malkin or 3C. |

Looks like Lindholm is going to Vancouver with Kuzmenko going the other way. Kinda kills the whole day's topic on Jake-Vancouver. |

If Boudeau says no, you can always try for Bruce Campbell. He'll handle these primitive screwheads. |

Trader Jim (and Alvin) doing his thing. Loading up early. Van and Edmonton both gonna go all in.
Some potential benefits for Pittsburgh? If Van can’t afford to Lindholm gives pitt an opportunity on July 1st I suppose. |

Hahaha totally squats it... I think it's very possible that there were talks about Jake going there for similar package, though |

Yup! Gives a good idea for a trade package for Guentzel who’s having a much better season. |

It was an interesting try though, I'll give him credit for that. Would have really freshened up the line up at least with all the areas that would have improved even as it cost Jake.
I think if Jake goes, I'd probably like to see Malkin-Sid-Rust. Hopefully Yager can be the 2C, but if he needs to be wing or just as insurance they'd need to add someone with the flexibility to play there. |

To Wilsons blog, I think it would be great to bring in Boudreau. Directly to give a different look to the powerplay and indirectly to put some pressure on Sullivan. Gotta do something. |

My very realistic predictions for the deadline:
PIT - Chabot & Tarasenko (1/2 retained)
OTT - Karlsson
PIT - Ristolainen
PHI - Graves
PIT - Provorov & Jenner
CBJ - Chabot & 2nd rounder
Sign Phil the Thrill. Resign Jake to an extension at the deadline.

It has been rumored to be a seller's Market. I would assume Guentzel will go for a high price especially if there is a bidding war. I think we would probably take calls on some other players as well if prices are high (Eller, Smith, maybe Karlsson). |

The only one of those 3 I could see being moved is Smith. EK and his 10 mill cap hit would be extremely tricky for a team to obtain. Look at all the moving parts it took for the Pens to get him. When I look at the standings and consider what I've seen out of teams this season I feel theres only 7 or 8 guaranteed playoff teams right now...and they dont have much of any space. Sure, maybe a fringe playoff team might take a run at a 10 mill player and still end up not making the playoffs....but I doubt it very much. Truth is there isnt much cap space right across the league right now.
I'd rather keep the reigning Norris trophy winner 11 points in last 12 games on pace for 60 points playing in brand new system being asked to be much more defensive and mostly delivering in that regard defenseman, anyway haha |

So the Flyers, who are undergoing a rebuild, would trade a bad defenseman with 3 years left on his deal for a bad defenesman with 5 years left on his deal because......why?
Also, I don't think either fanbase would be happy with that deal.

But you guys traded a good 1st round pick for Risto during a rebuild in the 1st place, so it could happen.

That wasn't a rebuild, that was Chuck Fletcher being the worst GM in the history of the world. He was under the severe delusion that the Flyers could contend immediately. |

A rebuild doesnt discredit this type of trade, it probably increases the likelihood. If Risto is a bit disgruntled and not filling his intended role, why keep him around if you are trying to rebuild? That trade to me is a no brainer for the Flyers and a big gamble for the Pens.
And don't get me wrong here, I was just pissing around a bit on how you would fill the 2RD spot if you traded Karlsson (which I think is a really legit possibility). |

Since I don't see either player as part of the (hopefully) future contending Flyers, I'd rather get rid of RR in 3 years than get rid of Graves in 5 years. I don't think RR is disgruntled, he's just not good enough and playing in a role he can't handle. Swapping him for Graves would be the same problem, but just for 2 years longer.
But again, I think most Pittsburgh fans would argue that Graves is very bad and Risto is awful, so I don't think this works for either side. |

From Yohe's piece in the Athletic....
- Said he get's the feeling Dubas is going to take more time to evaluate the team before the deadline.
- Sullivan and Reardon are safe. He's blaming the players for the lack of PP success.
- Expected more from EK, especially on the PP.
- Would like to sign Guentz at their price (team friendly). If he can't, he's not afraid to trade him and likely won't let him leave for nothing even if Sullivan and Crosby want him to stay. |

Once the Pens come back from the break, they'll essentially be playing every other day through the end of the season. They have 15 games in 32 days before the TDL. Should provide Dubas all the information he needs on which direction to go. |

Don’t know what more he needs to see. They show exactly what they are every game. Middling with potential if the right tweaks are made. |

Playing every other day for a month might show they're not worth a tweak or two.
