Playing every other day for a month might show they're not worth a tweak or two.
- madmike71

I kind of read that as taking more time to get Jake resigned.

So, Jake turned down $8.5 for 6 years. How do you like me now?

Or it might show they are worth it. The Pens were on a very good roll then started playing a game or two every 4 or 5 days in wack time zones.

Playing ever other day > playing every 3 to 5 days

Also worth noting that the Pens are 6-0-0 in the second game of back to backs so far this season....

From Yohe's recent Athletic article:

• 2012-13 Penguins: 2nd
• 2013-14 Penguins: 1st
• 2014-15 Capitals: 1st
• 2015-16 Capitals: 5th
• 2016-17 Capitals: 4th
• 2017-18 Capitals: 2nd
• 2018-19 Capitals: 12th

• 2020-21 Penguins: 4th

I believe it was Nick Kyprios who put that out there....so somewhat credible.

Nah he's not. He's a moron who's been very wrong about the Pens, their players and contracts numerous times before. This is the same guy who said they were definitely going to trade Malkin back in 2014 or 2015 hahah

Almost always been successful? Reidron has been working with ELITE talent over all of those years, including Ovie who was the best PP weapon in the league for a long time.

Finishing outside of the top 10 in 4 out of the last 5 years and now having the worst PP in the league is pretty damning. It's nice he had a good run there earlier in his coaching career but what have you done for me lately...?

You know whats going to happen... Jake is going to get injured, Pens miss the playoffs, he walks for nothing in the offseason and signs with the Rangers.

I guess I'll allow him to stay up a bit later to see it tonight....

I never watch the skills. It can get really cringy. It's perfect for kids though.

I've been watching the all-star game the last few years. It's kind of enjoyable. There's some honest desire by the players to win it. Still sucks for the goalies. Goalies are the only players that have a real opportunity to get hurt doing a silly exhibition.

The deadline truly works on a bell curve. There’s a sweet spot of mid tier player that get insane value (overpay) and then the better a player is beyond that sweet spot, the less value they’ll go for. Wouldn’t be shocked if Guentzel didn’t get much more than what Monahan just went for

Holy heck that is a great return for Montreal. I like the player, but there is a 75% chance he gets injured before the playoffs start.

I'm thinking the Pittsburgh writer, Nick Horwat is the one who fed this to Nick Kypreos.

If Horwat fed him the information, why would Horwat credit Kypreos with the report?

Incredible asset management from Montreal. Turned "Future Considerations" into 2 first round picks. Taking on Monahan for a 1st round pick and then trading him for a 1st round pick is great business.

Horwat doesn't want to be labeled a leaker.

Kypreos has no connections to the Penguins, or Guentzel's agent Ben Hankinson. I don't think he has many friends playing. The only way he got this is from a beat writer or Dubas, himself.

I'm going with the beat writer who jumped on the story. He has been writing a number of stories on the Penguins trade front recently. This would give him credibility.
