oh I don't want them to hurry, I'm just not really excited about it because chances are the habs are gonna suck even more once he's gone, at least for a while, depending on the return. - Pat1993
If Monahan is traded a lot earlier than originally expected (ie: TDL), I still think HuGo will go out and get veteran center on an expiring contract to back-fill and maybe give another team some cap space to make deals, too.
Otherwise, you have Suzuki, Evans, and......?
Newhook out, Dvorak out, Dach out.
Yeeeeesh, that looks scary.

What if they trade Monahan and Pearson (or Allen if comes down to it) and retain salary on Pearson or Allen.
Habs have ONE salary retention slot to use at this TDL, they get one back this summer (Edmundson). Petry counts until the summer of 2025. - Symba007
yes, that's a possibility. Pearson, Allen, Armia... depends what the buyer wants. |

Newhook is expected back after the TDL, he was skating before they went on break. They lost Dvo for the rest of the season, I am sure they can find a plug to patch a whole and help a team clear cap space for an expiring contract at the TDL |

I think LA might be the only place slightly interested in Allen, but they do not need another center... but who knows.

Yeah, but 4-5 weeks of only Suzuki and Evans, if Newhook is even on track?
That is gonna be ugly.

Habs will most likely draft at #5 or 6 based on the standings, I expect them to come up short most games.
Go Sens Go...keep pushing for that 9th place in the conference |

Yeah, I suspect if he is very close, there si a higher chance of a Monahan deal happening.

The Calgary Flames released a statement Tuesday night on forward Dillon Dube facing a sexual assault charge in connection with an alleged incident that occurred during a Hockey Canada event in London, Ont., in June of 2018.
Dube was granted a leave of absence by the Flames on Jan. 20, with the team citing mental health as the reason.
"We have now become aware of the charge of sexual assault that has been laid against Dillon Dube," the team said Tuesday. "We take this matter very seriously. Because the matter is now pending legal proceedings, we will have no further comment at this time.
"We had no knowledge of pending charges at the time Dillon’s request for a leave of absence was granted."
What absolute and complete bullpoop by the Flames.
Now you know why the deal was done so early, Wednesday.

the Flames looked really dumb indeed on that one, trying to pretend they weren't aware of something that everyone else was aware of lol.

They released the statement Late Tuesday night and then broke the trade news mid-day Wednesday.
Classic NHL move.

If you think so.... after days of questions, the Flames claim they knew nothing about it til Tuesday, then suddenly distract with a big trade and it all goes away.
I am sure it is all a coincidence.

yeah, no
you dont do a trade like that just to distract people unless you wanted to do the said trade in the first place
The Flames had nothing to do what that story anyway as far as we know, that was on hockey Canada. |
