Why?
He played ok. Was he suppose to lie for little reimer and say he was great? - Fakepartofme
Oh FFS what coach says that after a 3-2 OT loss when the OT winner is a 2 on 1?
I never said the coach should lie, nor did I say he should have said Reimer was great but 'just ok' implies he wasn't good enough and everyone including the media know it & they ran with it.
Good coaches don't say things that can get twisted in the media and reflect poorly on a player unless they choose to or are told to.
I would guess that you are the minority in your opinion that it was not a Richard move on the coach's part but it's your opinion not mine.

I'll pick the lane that is pissed that Dubas squandered picks on players who made little difference, and he vastly overpaid for him. - Atomic Wedgie
really wasnt a fan of the Folingo move.. RoR I liked.
neither really worked out.
But also there is Muzzin, was good.
I like the Mccabe deal. Giordano was fine.
most were fine

4 of the 8 MLB teams with the highest projected 2024 win totals play in the American League East.
nothing to see here.
one time the Jays could have moved out of the ALE. but didnt.
think cuz owners wanted to keep the Sox/yank rivalry and extra $$ generated from those games.
feels short sighted...winning lots of games and playoffs make a lot of money also |

Muzzin wasnt a deadline trade i believe, but he came with term or was extended...maybe both. So ya, that trade was good. Gio also extended, so fine.
Had ROR been extended, the deal would have been better, but he didn't want to stay in Toronto. Maybe do a little checking in to see he who have extended before trading...if possible.
The short term he was here, he was effective but what they gave up was alot.
Ah well. |

And Reimer is an intolerant P.O.S., so there's that to consider. |

Over the next three years, they do not have: a 2024, 2025 or 2026 second or their 2025 1st or 2025 4th. The 2024 3rd was traded but they have the Islanders 3rd instead.
They have draft capital if they need to move it. They have asset capital if the acquisition is right.
I would rather Dubas have made the moves he did trying to win rather than do nothing at all. You're the one who keeps talking about how they're pissing away their best player ever's best years and then at the same time bemoaning that they're trading assets to try and get better.
Pick a bloody lane. - Monkeypunk
Fifty gonna Fifty. The Leafs could win back to back cups, and he'd complain that we didn't threepeat. |

But what will that do? Being angry about it is not only pointless, it is also misguided. I would do almost all of the trades, except probably Rittich, in the past 3 years over again. Maybe I'd have kept Engvall because I am one of the people who did like him, and frankly if they had no use for Gustafsson - why bother trading Sandin at all?
At the time everyone thought Foligno was a good addition but definitely overpriced. He got injured.
At the time everyone thought O'Reilly was a good addition - and not even overpriced. He also got injured. That cost a 1st, a 2nd and a 4th and also brought in Acciari.
For McCabe with 2 additional years of term @ 50% retained and Lafferty with an additional year of term they gave up a top-10 protected 1st and a 2nd.
For Luke Schenn they gave a 3rd.
In acquiring Gio the 2024 3rd went. I didn't feel the price for that deal with the acquisition of Blackwell was that bad. Blackwell never did turn into what you'd hope for, but none of these pesky grindy types seem to with Keefe as the coach.
Most of those guys had a positive impact on the roster when they played - both Foligno and O'Reilly were good when they weren't injured.
Around all of that - do you get mad because the contracts given out were too high because they signed JT to a landmark UFA deal that changed the landscape of the contracts given out in Toronto? Sure. Do you think some of the FA signings were garbage? Sure. Do you think that they never found a reliable goalie? Sure.
But those draft picks being traded away to be more competitive were money well spent even if they didn't win the cup. They added more value when we needed it vs the value we would have received later when we possibly didn't.

Rental prices heavy. Habs have to be smiling about a 1st for a Monahan who was a pure salary dump.
Habs got 2 1st rounders in exchange for the burden of paying Monahan for a year and a half. Damn... |

they gambled because they are rebuilding and had cap space mostly due to Carey Price career ending injury (LTIR), it payed out. I would also not be surprised to see Monahan sign with MTL this summer |
