I was gonna use the acronym for "coked up midget" but quickly realized it might become even more awkward than wrestling lingo... |

you mean the attendance at the women's games? yup, good to hear for sure.
you said the men lost though yet both Ottawa and Belleville weren't playing today, so I don't know what you're referring to.

and yes, many many families can't afford to bring their kids to a Habs game.
so they go watch MPP. I still don't understand why the NHL didn't see the opportunity to make a buck. no vision as usual. |

Maybe wait to see the balance sheet after the season, or when they're in year 3 or 4 |

it brings me back to what we were talking about the other day, how Buttman leaving and being replaced by a new voice/different perspective could help the league and the sport in general grow tremendously.
a lot of people keep bringing up the fact that the owners have been satisfied with Buttman and that's why he's still there, but keeping a bunch of millionaires happy doesn't automatically mean he's been doing a great job for everything else.

it's true that there could be a "novelty" factor that is artificially boosting the numbers during the league's beginnings. |

Well, he works for the owners. It's the owner's responsibility to determine what will happen then propose it to Mr. Bettman who then will relay the message to all the owners.
If he starts proposing wacky things and pisses the owners off then he's out. There is a reason why he's over seen the insane financial growth of the league. Despite people questioning it's vision. |

meh, I think they played it nicely. only 6 teams, a short calendar of what, 24 games? they should be good for the long run. the product is good, entertaining, and there's a public for it, as we can see. |

Also, if it were NHL run, it would always be secondary for the league. They wouldn't allocate their best resources to it because the NHL is still number 1 for them. Which means they'll lose interest once the pwhl finds its equilibrium in terms of attendance, viewership and revenue. |

yes I get that, my point is that the owners being satisfied when it comes to their own personal interests doesn't necessarily equate to seriously considering what could be done for the league and the sport's best interests. |

don't forget Pat, they are not there to grow the game, improve the sport, take care of there players health, or get little girls to play hockey.... they are there to make a buck. period. it's a business. |

with how things are currently ran, yes I believe you are right, it would've required different people at the helm so that things could be optimal for the women's league. |

but helping the sport grow and attract more fans would logically help make that buck, no?
anyway lol. |

Growing hockey really just comes down to affordability in youth hockey. People tend to care less about sports they haven't, or will never, play.
It's amazing how much needs to be spent just to be ready to play |

totally agreed, that's why they stick in Arizona. but they didn't see it the same way for women hockey. it would have cost them peanuts compared to the current owner... oh well |
