With the proper mind set rebuilds can be fun, granted that they don’t last multiple decades. - Victoro311
I agree with this. It's not the worst if a team is legitimately trying to do it right. It can become a nightmare if your team is missing on the picks lol. Gary gonna help us out when the time comes however. |

I think Sid will be fine here even during the dark years. His role will change to that of mentor. Just like how Mario stayed till he could pass the torch to Sid. I’m sure that is still remembered in his mind. - 10inchTerror
I honestly don't know if Sid will want to be here in the dark years, but Mario stayed because he owned the team. That situation was a lot more cloudy than you think. After his casino deal fell apart, Mario made a deal to sell the team to a guy who was going to move it.
If Sid wanted to chase a cup, I'd be fine with it. He'll enter the HOF in a Pens jersey. |

Rak wasn't scoring but Geno and Smith seemed to work better with him on their line. I like DOC but it seems forced to have him and Rak flipped and on their off wing.
4th line I dub thee the HAC(K) line - Thorny87
Agree. Rackell should be on Geno's line to put everyone on their main sides. Drop DOC or even Smith to third.
Hoping Pulj is able to fill that gaping hole we've had at 3RW all year. |

https://www.penguinslates...ment-Clause-for-Two-Teams
Saw this go across my facebook feed.... on a scale of 1 to EK5, how full of poop is this rumor? Neither team has any cap space, so I don't see any realistic way this can happen unless we bend over backwards for them.
Would have to be a fully retained Crosby (or some 3 team trade stuff) for EK/Hyman or to CO... i think Johansen or Colton would just barely work... if not would have to be Lehkonen's money. - Guile
Sid has said before he wants to retire a penguin. But IF he was going to move the only realistic option would be Colorado because of mackinnon. I would say Montreal all as well if they were a powerhouse butttt they’re not.
Now the return…
To col - Sid 50% retained
To Pitt - ??
I’m not an expert on western teams (or any team for that matter) but I’d expect the equivalent of 3-4 1st rounders. I don’t think Bowen byram would fit the next window. I don’t know if they have any recent 1st round picks as well as maybe their next two 1st rounds. |

I think Jake’s contract is going to go right to the deadline wire. He has good leverage with the season he is having and the discount he took on the last deal. He and his agent know he deserves high salary and term and also a NMC. But the Pens are tight under the cap and with other NMCs. Plus you know Sid wants him to stay. I don’t really have a strong feeling about what will happen but I can see Dubas giving him most of what he wants. Why would he balk at resigning Guentzel when he shelled out for Rust, Rackell, Malkin, Letang? |

Because he didn't sign any of those players.

Kudos to Dubas for taking a chance on Puljujarvi. I don't expect a whole lot from him, he's an 8% shooter on our third line.
The good thing is that he makes a much younger team. And Sullivan will play him because he is a five or six year veteran of the NHL. Sullivan will also mess with him because he is a Euro. |

O'Connor needs to be playing the left side. Sullivan wants him to be the heir apparent when we trade Guentzel. |

Pulj is the type of player dubas set out to make the bottom 6 into. Dom Simon 2.0. Good defensively, decent iq, knows where to be on the ice, can skate. Just has bricks for hands. And I don’t mean Eric Goddard bricks for hands. I’ve read reports on his play that he has looked really good in wbs although a bit timid on the ice, and makes sense with his surgery. Hopefully he can handle the physically of the nhl and come out of his shell and blossom into a good support player. |

Hextall signed those guys, not sure Dubas would've signed them all.
Plus the fact those guys wanted to stay. Ive heard nothing that says Jake wants to stay a Penguin. Doesnt mean he wants to leave, but I think he's playing his cards correctly. Either make Pittsburgh write you a big check, or go see what free agency brings. The question for Dubas is what does he do about it. Jake is 29. I dont mind giving out an 8 year deal, but it could hurt trading him down the road. |

I’m unsure that’s really a good comp given how much bigger JP is than Simon and Simon’s strength offensively was carrying the puck where as JP’s is on the walls. They seem like totally different players even if their net impact may end up being similar.

Looks like Sully is sticking with the PP break ups and adding Smith to the 1st unit with Jake Sid Rusty and Tanger.
A functional R Smith is needed badly. Hopefully this boosts him up a bit. |

Hate saying it being a Geno supporter forever, but I do not think he should be on PP1 anymore this season. Half a season showing is enough. |

Consider pullajarvi doesn’t do anything for the pens PP, or their chance at the playoffs I’d prefer Goddard bricks for hands. |

You’d prefer Goddard over pretty much anyone because that’s just who you are: a sicko and a degenerate. |

I'm hoping for Hornqvist 2.0. With a name like Pullyerharvey, Hornie 2.0 can't be much of a stretch.

For sure, I just meant a forward that has good underlying numbers but doesn't produce points.

I’d take a prime Matt Cooke or Raffi Torres running rampant on a pussified league over Goddard though. |

Just imagine a 2006 Raffi Torres playing a 2023 NJD in a playoff series. The carnage would be epic and beautiful. |

I’d take Cooke and Goddard back. Cooke was actually a good player. I loved Goddard though. When he took the 10 game suspension to make sure our goalie (I’m guessing Brent Johnson) didn’t have to fight… again lol…. Imagine how brutal those islanders games would have been if we had the wussified team we have now. I’m sure he’llberg could dummy some goalies but he’s in the A. Otherwise Sid and tanger have to fight all the battles now. Playoff hockey needs some grit and pushback. |

He's 25 and he's replacing Puustinen who is 24...
But at least he's better at hockey. |
