Honestly besides a rough 45 seconds as the 1st unit transitioned to the 2nd unit that was all pretty solid.
Now, is grinder happy because of the Carter goal or pissed because Karlsson made a good play? |

Happy about the goal. Pissed because Karlson is good but not 10 million good. Stop blacking out in Vegas like a 22 year old chick and pay attention. |

Who would've guessed that just throwing the puck towards the net on the PP would lead to goals? |

To the rivalry discussion from earlier in the thread: I liked the 2-game sets during the COVID year. A lot of animosity would build up in the first game and spill over into the second one, both for the players and for me. The second games had a lot of good physical hockey. |

I'll agree there's no real hatred anymore and that rivalries are only really carried on by fans nowadays. What the NHL failed to notice is that Americans, the people they keep trying to make hockey fans, like seeing men beat the piss out of each other. We like hard-hitting football and UFC. Trying to eliminate fighting seem counter-intuitive to marketing the game. Same with limiting the amount of inter-divisional games so that all teams get a home and away against every team, it eliminates that 8-game per season bitterness.
I'm not a fan of cheap shots and fighting for the sake of fighting, but agree that physicality and hatred are a shadow of what they were. I'll also agree that the skill of today's players are better than ever (generally speaking) but I wish there was a happy medium. - jmatchett383
The NHL can't afford to write billion dollar checks to brain damaged players. That's the bottom line. The NFL is dramatically different since they've instituted "head contact rules" too. It's still a brutal sport, but the players are way more conscious of where they hit players.

Yes. Just saying that because of that it wasn’t as fun to watch. |

Two separate power play units...... net front presence on both of them (the CHEF in the kitchen)... and (finally) more intelligent play with the lead.
Those looking for support of their narrative will always find something wrong. |

Putting Malkin and Karlson out there with guys like Carter and Eller forces them into a more shoot first mentality. Carter and Eller aren’t looking to play catch for 2 minutes. |

EK and Gino were still passing it back and forth a lot, but none of Rak, Eller, Carter left the net front/slot, hence there was literally nowhere else for EK/Gino to go with the puck other than back and forth or to the net. So, after going back and forth several times, they realized they had to get it to the net.
I wonder if the coaches told those other guys not to get open, just stay in the middle near the net. That would be some sneaky good coaching. Leave EK/Gino with no other option than to shoot. |
