But hey, the leafs have 7.5 million Rielly who's 7th in scoring for dmen. That's something right? With more hits than some of the superstar Dman you love. That's something right? - Aaron_85
Too bad he isn't great defensively and often has big brain farts.

I think it's fair to assess the "snot" as Treliving put it, during the actual playoffs. Lots of people here were happy with Reaves, Domi and Bert for playoff hockey specifically. Can't turn our backs on the plan now because they aren't regular season stars.
I agree with your last couple points.
I disagree on not making trades. If this was the thinking in Tampa they wouldn't have won the 1st of the back to back cups. - Aaron_85
Tampa hadn't failed in the playoffs the 4 years prior abd blew many assets doing it. So not a good comparison.
As for bert, ive said many times, i want to see him in the playoffs. Hopefully he turns it up, cause his reg season has been pretty bad

As well as Bert, Knies Robertson Gregor Kampf all need to get on the scoresheet and contribute more.
Completely agree with Tampa. Bad comparison. Even when you factor the 4 - 0 sweep to Columbus and missing the playoffs, they were winning rounds even before that, going 2 or 3 rounds each time. I think even a final.

Tampa is sort of awkward no matter how you try and setup the comparison. They had won the cup right before the lockout with Richards, Lecavalier, St. Louis, Boyle, Kubina and Khabibulin in net. They came back from the lockout with basically the same core - like Stillman was out but Prospal was in, and Khabibulin had gone off to Chicago - and was replaced by John Grahame, who sort of sucked. They fell off a cliff. Just 4 years after winning that cup, they were drafting Stamkos first overall. Then the next year it was Hedman 2nd overall - and these guys were still playing with St. Louis and Lecavalier - so that winning attitude and pedigree was already instilled in them. I mean this was 2009 - and it still took years to build this core - Kuch in 2011, Vasilevskiy in 2012 and Point in 2014. It wasn't until 2015 that they saw a lot progress (losing in the Cup final). 5 years later is when this group, 12 years after Stamkos was drafted 1st overall, would finally win a cup.

Alomar has been dead to me since he spat in an umpire’s face. - shack67
It was a low point for sure, but the later indescretion for which his name was removed from the Level of Excellence and the Jays cutting ties with him was far worse. As Mr. Sir said, he was the greatest 2nd baseman as a player the Jays have ever had. I still remember doing a happy dance when he crushed an Eckersley fastball in the American League championships. Too bad he had less class than a busload of Islander fans.

Lots of great players that were around for shorter stints. Hard not to mention Carter. He had the biggest homer in Jays history. I was there. Jimmy Key was a beauty. Henke and Ward were dynomite.
