Carol is Crosby, Yorkie is OV - DariusKnight
Pretty harsh. Yorkie is a good, hard working fella. He isn’t a goal sucking, self centered Putin puppet. Not quite a Crosby maybe an Yzerman lite |

Carol will always be Crosby due to her credentials as an actual journalist, maybe I am being too harsh on Yorkie, he might be more of a Jack Eichel |

“No more wars” a OV quote when the left media attacked him on Putin, what did he mean by that being a friend of Putin? Is Putin ending endless wars? We’re gonna find out. |

Yeah, throwing money, term and picks at other people's problems. Catering a franchise for 10 years does get you those core players though. It also got us Juolevi, Virtanen and our empty prospect cupboard. - Load Management
Kinda like Chicago with Cam Barker and the rest of their dud picks. No one hits them all. |

No, and some of those drafts had few if any actual NHL players, let alone stars that were drafted. I know the year Yakupov went 1st overall there wasn't many players that ended up playing over 100 NHL games (I forgot who we took in that draft) |

Ok ya it’s different for Vancouver, even though la, Chicago and Pitt wiffed on high picks while building their core. Blame it on the year or whatever. |

That’s a good result for Canucks. Keeps another team gunning for 1st in Conference below them. The more the buffer against Avs, Stars & Jets the better. |

I've always disliked the whole "You aren't great unless you've won championships" argument especially in team sports because so much depends on the team around you. It's one thing in basketball where 1 player can literally take over a game and can win a ring on their own like Magic, Bird, Jordan, LeBron, and Curry could but the Stanley Cup is literally the hardest championship to win in sports and even the best team in the league can lose due to injuries/fatigue during a playoff run. - DariusKnight
Honest question: do Detroit or New Jersey win without a guy playing literally half the game? It is absolutely a team game, but there’s certain pieces that are your core most important players. There’s very good players that didn’t win, Mcdavid is one of them currently but the best ones win. |

From time to time, the analytics site that I read, comes up with some pretty good stuff. Just the other day, the 1 blogger basically says what a useless stat PDO is. He indicated how it was a stat that was created to show how easy the sheep will follow. Man are there ever a lot of sheep. |

You wanna know an incredible stat, I love baseball, so it's a baseball reference. Tony Gwynn faced Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz, all hall of fame pitchers, 323 times, he struck out only three times IN TOTAL....Gwynn was arguably the greatest pure hitter in baseball over the past 70 years!!
I know that'll probably go in one ear and out the other with you, because it won't mean anything to you, but it's an incredible stat!! |

Just as stupid as people who talk about baseball stats in a hockey blog. |

I’ve cut way back on my Canuck/hockey reading. I come here mostly so appreciate when guys post articles, Twitter links, and similar pieces. I guess I’m not exposed to the analytical hard-liners but I rarely see anyone discuss pure analytics as a basis of their opinion. Most journalists I read only use analytics sparingly.
So I’m not clear on how this rivalry started between believers and nonbelievers. It seems strange to me. |

They're just a tool, one of many, used to make an informed decision. As you know. Organizations that use them and employ a "stats staff", almost every pro sports team, do so for a reason...because they're useful. |

For the simple minds, like yourself, Reuby and Nighthawk, unaccomplished people in life, it doesn't surprise me that you both wouldn't appreciate the beauty of any stat when presented to you. |

But again, you can be the best player in the world, but even if you're capable of playing 30 minutes+ a game that still leaves the time that you're not on the ice. Heck, you can be the better team for the entire game, get goalied and still lose. |

Kypreos tweeted a piece about how the Leafs are way too reliant on their top four stars, I'm not sure if he wrote it or someone else. They'll never win anything without playoff depth.
The Canucks were somewhat similar under Benning, they had good young players but zero depth, until Allvin came along. Now they're going to take a run at the coveted President's Trophy, which would be their third in team history. |

I was referring to you and Weedwood, since Nighthawk isn't here, but again, it doesn't surprise me that you couldn't figure that out on your own. |
