He doesn’t need to make the playoffs, but if the Flyers stay in this current trajectory they will have improved from Torts’ first season…that’s a fact. It does seem like sometimes when someone points that out to refute your statements that he’s doing a poor job, then you pivot to focusing on the fact they aren’t close to winning a cup, or that he won’t win the Jack Adam’s.

You know enough hockey to know any type of turnaround (call it a rebuild or whatever) takes time. Torts wasn’t here 10 years ago…or 5 years ago. Dude has improved this team. He can’t (or is responsible for) make them a contender overnight.

You're wrong on a number of levels. I haven't stated that Tortorella is doing a poor job. He has obviously improved the team. What I have stated is that he is not the right coach for young player development. That his style of play and systems will not result in long term progression and the team reaching legitimate cup contention. That his obvious influence over this franchise will in the long run, set them back. My benchmark is more than just making the playoffs. Flyers have done plenty of that in my time as a Flyers fan. I also don't bring up the Jack Adam's. Others do that, I just respond to that. You need to be accurate.
