The fact people are still whining about Nylander is so incredibly laughable.
God forbid the Leafs have a guy ripping it up and who made a commitment to stay long term and be rewarded for it financially.

I was having convo about tree with someone else, no one is or was whining.......well outside of you right now.
Hes having a great contract year, cool 11.5 is hefty imo.

Don't disagree about the likely need to spread around the money differntly and I have said that for quite some time - I think I started after last years playoff bounce but maybe earlier.
I do think they eihter really look hard at moving a core piece not named Matthews and with Willy's new deal pretty sure it wouldn't be him.
OR
They do what many here are saying they think will happen and as much as it kinda' sucks it may be the right thing to do - wait until JT and Marner are both up for new deals and then make moves.

Yup, trees free agent frenzy hasnt been great so far.....although im hoping bert turns it up for the playoffs.
Gonna get tighter next season and then things should open up after that.
Unless marner wants a big pay raise, which if he does, gotta let him walk.
Im hoping he signs for the same as willie.

I still think the Core 4 buys you a lot of lottery tickets for the dance, gets you into the dance, regardless of who they're surrounded with.
We're seeing it this year, with a bunch of UFA signings that are not panning out, that aren't adding secondary scoring and certainly haven't improved us defensively.
Meanwhile, Matthews, Marner, and Nylander are all killing penalties.
All Tree had to do was sign some dependable two-way guys to fill out a serviceable bottom six, and instead, he went for one-dimensional "scoring depth" that's not scoring.

I honestly believe that if every player didn’t have to play defence and could just focus on putting up pts, there would be a lot of Willy Nylanders out there making 11.5M.
