Yes, McCabe and Benoit are just what the team needs. Same as Lagesson, but for some reason we prefer Lilly…..just don’t get that mindset! Lagesson was a warrior who cleared the front of the net and made it difficult for other teams, and stuck up for the goalie, not so with Lilly. Best thing we could do is package Lilly and maybe something else for another high end, with a year or two left in contract, tough, defence man.

And I agree with the blog, for his team to win the core four NEED to all show up. Maybe they talk and agree that JT and Willie show up for game x and Matthews and Marner show up for game y and they all show up for game z because they need it and need them all. Dunno the answer, but I’m not sure that with over 80 games that they can all give 110% every shift of every game!? So, realize that, acknowledge that, and make a plan for success around that! Whether it be by period or game or whatever……the core need to coordinate their effort better to be more effective. Last night they all showed up and it was good to see for a change. Good effort! Good win!

He a RHD that doesn't turn 25 until April. Maybe he's got a lot more to show over the next 10 seasons as a 4-6 Dman.

When he plays he averages almost 19 minutes a night, he's not replacement level.

That's interesting how Sergachev was a Habs draft pick but went on to win two Cups with Tampa. I wonder if he'll end up having a more valuable career than Slafkovsky? I personally don't think so, but if I was a Habs fan I'd be a least a little bit worried.

Oh they’re worried, but just try to get them to admit it. He was one of their few good picks and they couldn’t wait to get rid of him.

I am a fan of both the Leafs and the Habs. Trading Sergachev was a monumental mistake. As for Slafkovsky, he is/was not a generational talent. But if you watch him play, his progression is beyond incredible. I don't think a single Habs fan would change the pick. Biased opinion here, but I fully expect a breakout season next year. Kid just turned 19. They don't all just jump in the league at a ppg.
