Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Gearing up for the Trade Deadline Having traded his most sought-after asset doesn’t mean that Kent Hughes will sit on his hands until the draft now, he’ll still try to better his team, but it may come as addition by subtraction.

Will be interesting to see who he lines up with.

Are they gonna put Slaf on his wing or keep Slaf on the first line? Otherwise, he likely gets stuck with Armia and Anderson.

Slaf needs to be on that first line in my opinion.

Maybe Newhook can play with Calgary's first round in 2025 on his left and winnipeg's 1st round pick on the right wing

They might start Newhook on Evans wing for a game or so, then move him to center.

and yes, Slaf on the first line, but that just makes the Habs easier to defend against.

This is a team with serious depth problems in the top 9 (injuries and talent wise), does not matter how you line them up, it is gonna be easy for a lot of teams with any form of depth, most nights.

Yeah, things go faster when you're not good enough to make Team Canada.

Looks like Allen to either the Canes, Devils, Oilers or Flyers, and Savard to either Toronto, Florida, Dallas or Boston.

Book it.

Very good read as usal BUT I do not believe one second they were affraid of loosing Allen if they waved him, not at that salary.

It has to do in wanting to treat is vet good for future UFA attraction

The thing about Allen is he is not gonna create any drama on the team / in the room, regardless of how much or little he gets to play.

So a good vet guy to have around, regardless.

I do not think this is about waivers either, I think it is about keeping him around for Monty / Primeau until they can find an out for him.

Apparently they are the type of veteran plays contenders NEED to trade for, so get ready.

And yeah, let's trade another kid defenceman to TB and see how that goes.

Weirdly poor timing to trade goalies now that Fleury is on the market as the legacy guy, Lindgren is tearing it up in Washington and might be available as a "Hill" type guy and the teams with weak goaltending early on seem to have sorted it (Oilers/Leafs). Allen is still a good piece, just not the best market one would assume from the start of the season. Maybe Carolina if they don't go for Fleury?

You know what the funny part of that whole trade was?

The ink wasn't even dry yet, and Bergeron said he was looking for help on left d..

If there was some knowledge on the parent's part, then yes, they should be held accountable. Especially in this case, where there were clear signs....

But I do have concerns about making this a blanket precedent, there are lots of things that could go wrong. What of the parents had taken the gun away and he went out and got one on his own somehow? What if they could not find / get help? Or even afford it? And a million other things...

I fear that the American sense of justice is to burn them all, there is no nuance.

But yes, holding parent accountable is something long overdue - if only because it will force parents to be more involved in their kid's lives.

Well thats what I was saying, I was kinda thinking like you at the begining of the read...it could go wrong in so many ways, but they bought him the (frank)ing gun !!

Then, he said he was hearing voices and asked for help and they did nothing...so burn them
