I actually think Jake Allen makes sense for the Flyers. They have no answer at the back up goalie position for this year or next. They can plug an org need now and possibly have Allen for the playoffs this year instead of shopping in the offseason for a similar goalie. The Flyers have an answer for a backup, Pertersen. Unless they can trade Petersen and his 5M cap hit, how does it make sense? You'd have to bury Petersen next season, which would result in 3.85M of dead cap space. Now add in Allen at another 3.85M. Unless Montreal is retaining salary in deal, which would increase the return for Montreal. The Flyers are looking at 7.7M in cap space for the backup goalie! That makes sense?
