If they're smart he'll be out the rest of the season. - rpeters01
Why? His injury wasn’t a concussion, or a blown out shoulder or knee that required surgery and needs additional rest. When he’s cleared to play he should play, that’s the smart thing to do. |

What is everyone assessment of 55 this year. I get it, he is just 19 so cannot expect much, but I sure hope this is not a repeat of Bovquist..... |

He's 98 concussions behind Boqvist at this point in his career. |

Catton is doing a Teravainen-like slide into the teens - probably would have to trade up to get him though.
Maybe Helenius? - totem
I think his upside potential has him gone before the hawks second first.
Maybe the Russian wing with the bad shoulders drops or little Jiricek Adam's knee dropping him.
I am in favor of not following convention there and simply picking Michael Hage whether the draft prognosticators are thinking reach.
Isn't that what teh Moore pick was? A decision that long term the positives are going to eventually bring pro player to Chicago?
He seems to have the intangibles to succeed and has surrounded by a roster that hasn't helped his game much.
Just commit to the best hands and feet, don't put emphasis on big and physical unless the first two attributes come with it.
I am willing to even select three forwards at th get-go if the early second rounder has a smaller high skilled scorer.
We have lots of guys in the defense spectrum already, and unless there is a prospect that adds a new high skill level MOST of them lack, I might be for selecting no defenders unless the truly are best available with any picks slotted 50 and beyond.
It just makes once to bringing in as many skilled competitors at forward and I am not going to worry much about the size over their compete & skill at 18.
If somewhere a banger rearguard IS the best player on the board RD or LEFT, take him, but there seems like there s lots of room for forward prospects after you get a top end one early.

He handles the physical play a lot better than Boqvist who was manhandled around way too much. |

I felt he should have gone back to junior when the season began. Korbustsky has fit in pretty nicely, he had a real rough stretch for about ten or twelve games where he was joining the rush or pinching from the point on seemingly every shift and as a result was always out of position defensively. In the last month he’s been more selective when he gets involved offensively and he’s been better defensively. His defensive game still needs work, but he’s got an active stick and he’s getting better at boxing guys out from the front of the net. He’s not physical at all but he isn’t afraid to get involved. I’m sure we’ll see the offense he showed in junior once he has better teammates. His passing is exceptional, tape to tape, unfortunately most of his teammates can’t do much with his passes. |

am wondering if anybody else is having the problem I have in posting here.
I have lost entire posts and just took the time to answer Totem with an extensive and answer, and while typing in the Buzz “square, I don’t know if it is the adds or what but it freezes…even back space, or cut and paste.
I am in the middle of typing and look up and the typing stops as Bang out the rest of the sentence and I lose it.
After awhile if seems to allow me to type again, but after spending so much time, this last one after hitting send just disappeared—not there in back space.
I am typing all this off line b/c I can’t do this!
Your ANSWER will come, Totem! |

Well Scott Powers just tweeted this :
Connor Bedard will remain in the non-contact jersey this week. Luke Richardson is hopeful he begins practicing early next week and could be ready for games shortly after that.
Next week is 6 or 7 weeks? |

Sorry to be the eternal nitpicker:
- Was interested in the A J White profile, he sounds interesting, but is coming up listed as LHC, maybe website is flaky on these position listings
- Think #137 belongs to Calgary now (Beauviller then Zadorov trade) - kind of like the sound of the Red Army team forward there at 137.
---------
Hiroki Gojsic - Kelowna - has been noticeable recently (currently #170):
https://www.eliteprospect...ayer/597554/hiroki-gojsic
Good size and his scoring has picked up:
https://www.kelownadailyc...ee-84a0-ab4e546eb74b.html
Wouldn't mind getting a few of these late picks back to try for a long shot or two..... - totem
Maybe the guys they launch at the deadline will get them b/c I cannot envision a KIng's random being the return.
I fixed AJ White position, that was my fault.
Thanks, I need as much help as you can give me at corrections. I can give you my phone if you wish to call me with them.
On an earlier version of my Mock I had Hiroki Gojsic going to the hawks earlier than his current rank. I was watching Kelowna to access Tig Iginla and he caught my eye. He’s big had a good season start and does have a great shot that scored many of his 15 goals. He has decent speed when he gets going but he has two lousy first steps and not much lateral agility. And his off the puck offense is concerning., so I dropped him to slot #170.
As far as the #137 slot I usually (hopefully) catch all these things later as I now concentrate on watching.
Her is how that 5th Rd Calgary reads:
Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire:
Logo of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Jake McCabe ($2,000,000 retained - 50%)
Sam Lafferty
2024 5th round pick (CHI) [Conditional]*
2025 5th round pick (CHI) [Conditional]**
*Conditions: The 5th round pick transferred to Toronto will be the lowest of the 2024 5th round picks that Chicago owns at the time of the draft.
**Conditions: If McCabe plays in less than 50% of Toronto's 2023 Playoff games OR less than 25% of Toronto's 2023-24 regular season games, Chicago will transfer their 2025 3rd round pick instead of their 2025 5th round pick.
then'
Vancouver Canucks Acquire:
Logo of the Vancouver Canucks
2024 5th round pick (CHI) [Conditional]*
*Conditions: Vancouver will receive the best of the 5th round picks that Chicago owns....
Calgary Flames Acquire:
Logo of the Calgary Flames
2024 5th round pick (CHI) [Conditional]*
2026 3rd round pick (VAN)
*Conditions: Calgary will receive the best of the 5th round picks that Chicago owns
so that means the the 129 slot that shows Toronto from Blackhawks should be Calgary's - now to figure out this part of the redone DRAFTSITE trading part of Lines to fix that. |

Pope says :
The Blackhawks expect Connor Bedard to return to action next week. He’ll have his “hopefully final” doctor’s appt and imaging next Monday.
And in the next post he mentioned Feb21st or Feb23rd as a probable next game back |

Nice analysis of #55. Looking back, I’m okay that they decided to keep him up working with Dean, although I too would have sent him back to juniors at the time. Like you mentioned, his passing is exceptional and I wonder how many secondary assists he would have with a more talented group of forwards. |

Thanks for the info Wiz, esp. on Gojsic. Sounds like he would be a guy that Blackhawks would pass on since they seem to be emphasizing quickness and speed these days. That is the kind of thing I don't notice when I watch.

Once you are chosen first overall, the drive to succeed is somewhat missing at the collegiate level. It takes a special commitment and Celebrini would concentrate upon personal improvement while being a key piece. A cog in the wheel that turns though can be at the NHL level too He is ready enough for the NHL. He could improve and be more ready should he remain a collegiate but look at the possibilities if he lands in Chicago
Both Bedard and Celebrini are a bit early for their time to excel but the sooner they have proper linemattes and good coaching plus organizational support as teenagers growing into men , there is reality where they experience success on a small scale initially in the NHL Temper our feeling for Bedard and Celebrini too - wherever he plies his trade next season
Dare to hope for Celebrini as you dared to hope for Bedard. Sure. The odds are against us but really not much different than last year when Bedard blew into town.
Thankful for Bedard and overwhelmed with mercy should we be able to select Celebrini - jhawk59
You hate to get all conspiracy theory but the NHL needs the Blackhawks to be good or at least interesting for them to start to drive more revenue. |

I’m watching the AZ/PHI game and I think I found a new comp for Reichel. I think his ceiling is Schmaltz. He’s really active and can be dangerous, but ultimately “just” a depth scorer. Not a bad thing as those guys are certainly needed, but more of a middle six type. |

Excellent passer, good vision, excellent stick especially at the blue line. Gap control generally good. Holds his own physically. When he gets things wound up and carries the puck through the zone it looks really impressive.
Hasn't figured out how or when to pinch effectively yet. For as good as his gap control can be I think he gets a little lost in transition back towards his own end and figuring out which guy to pick up. For as good as he looks carrying the puck up it doesn't amount to much which is some roster but also some oh crap I made it now what do I do.
The physical and technical tools are pretty impressive. Should be around a 50 point player once he gets comfortable. I think benchmark for next year assuming the roster stays the same should be around 25 points. If they are able to add a bit more scoring maybe 35 isn't unreasonable but if the forwards can't finish it's kind of tough for the defenders to put up points. |
