I don't mind the Poehling re-signing. He's still young and I think he can be a good 4th line center for this team. I just think they overpaid him a little. - MJL
He’s not going to be on the fourth line… |

so the flyers do not have what they need but should trade for him. What a terrible article. - hello it's me 2050
Committ to another question mark spending assets, great plan |

You’re trading a proven, capable NHL player for legit nothing then. A terrible use of assets - Wingdestroyer
Poehling is 25 and the Flyers have been in a proverbial never ending search for a 4th line center and 4th line players. Overpaying for them in free agency. He is a player they should've re-signed, just for less than they paid him in my opinion. A mid draft pick has little chance of turning into an NHL player. The other issue I have is that Tortorella is overplaying him but that's not Poehling's fault.

You might be right long term and he's certainly not on the 4th line now but he should be long term. |

a proven 4th line center who are available every summer in free agency are they not?
maybe just once develop your own on ELC then wont have to pay 1.9 per.
how is it a legit nothing? So any player traded for mid rd picks are bad trades since they are legit nothings? |

you also said seeler and walker should be re-signed if reasonable
this team is the same with or without RP.
So the mid rd pick has little chance to make it yet you scream for years the flyers should be acquiring assets. Yet when they trade mid rd picks you rip on the team. which one is it cliff? you can use that mid rd pick to move up, so they serve a purpose. |

i like CM and wanted them to draft him. It will def cost a lot then you have to pay him. |

Wow
Why would they trade for Risto or Walker?
I've read some doozies on that site and that definitely ranks up there as one of the dooziest

First, you have to actually DEVELOP one first. The Flyers either have no current prospects that have proven to be able to outplay Poehling (or haven’t been developed properly, but that’s another conversation). It’s not as easy as just just inserting someone from the AHL. They might not be good enough yet! No one has proven they are
Second, I feel you are under estimating Poehling’s skillset a bit. Yes, on a top team is he a 4th liner….sure, but he’s a a capable one. The dude can SKATE and he’s proven not only serviceable but dangerous on the PK.
I think he got a bit more than I would
Have paid him, but we’re talking a NEGLIGIBLE cap amount more. He’s worth far more than just a 4th round pick, and he’s better than any of our centers in the AHL.

nhl guy's like him available every summer.
well when your rebuilding that is how you find out no?
I am not even against the re-signing, just not what i would have done. |

yes that is a very bad piece. offers no real potential for a deal. |

That’s not a reason to just give away that asset for nothing (yes, a fourth rounder is nothing).
And, while you might not be too far off, that’s NOT a guarantee you’ll find someone who can skate and play the PK like him and fit into this system the way he does.
Your impatience with the success of the team is fueling a bit of an unnecessary bias for action. This rebuild needs to move BIG MONEY and BAD CONTRACTS if possible to get younger and more talented. You gotta still have good players, and Poehling is a good player. You don’t just trade him because you want “new stuff” |

The goal numbers certainly don't suggest that at all. I get articles from this group on my phone all the time for some reason and most of their suggestions are not all that intelligent. |

well that is your take and do not agree.
so many trades in the nhl are just giving players away then. understood.
no guarantee correct. as i said with or without RP this team is pretty much the same. RP is a ok player. dime a dozen.
not impatient at all no bias for action here. just smart business is all |

Bill do you see the flyers acquiring a vet goalie to help out Sam or roll with Cal? - hello it's me 2050
I hope they just roll with Cal, I don’t want to give up futures for a backup goalie when the team is still far from Cup contention. |

According to Tortorella:
1) He doesn't think any of the top 7 D deserve to sit out. Keeps Zamula in the lineup regularly.
2) Gives more ice time to the top forwards. - bmeltzer
Thank you!

Torts on Sean Walker:
"When it comes to the deadline, we're going to listen" "If we feel it's the right thing to do for the future of the organization, we'll do it"
"Those guys on expiring contracts, everybody's always kind of checking around, so we'll see where it goes. We're not out there shopping Sean Walker, but we'd be dopes if we didn't listen."

Can’t believe they’re stating Petersen today. Od save the spot starts for b2b situations and just absorb the loss in those scenarios. |
|

Pretty impressive that this group has been playing playoff style hockey this deep into the season.
That’s a long candle Tortorella has been burning at both ends. - StepfordSam
Yes it been impressive and point well made about the candle. There's still a lot of hockey to be played and I just don't see how this team will be able to keep it up.
