The problem with that poll is that they only give the option of a 6 year contract, which I don't think is the reality in real life. Why would TK sign just a 6 year contract, when the Flyers have given out 8 year contracts to other players, as recently as last month.
Ask that question the proper way..
Trade TK for 2 firsts at the deadline, or sign him to an 8 year, $72 million dollar contract? |

If you would be willing to retain 50% in a deal trading Konecny, I think teams would be lined up trying to make that deal. I'd be looking for a 1st and a blue chip prospect.

The frustrating part is…the teams that would be wanting Konecny now, not many of them have both of those things? For some you can get a blue chipper but they might not have a first….OR it’s a really low one. Or vice versa…their prospects might be crap
Full transparency, i love TK and I might be as sad as I was when we traded Rod Brindamore. It needs to be a big time return in my eyes. Like, Byfield or McTavish or something of that ilk (even if flyers need to add or whatever). |

Byfield and McTavish are already in the NHL. I don't think you would get either of those players. They don't have to trade Konecny this season. It can be done in the offseason or even next season.

If, for some reason, a team jumps up into the top 5 with the lottery, that’s another thing I’d be ok with. That Cayden Lindstrom kid looks like a beast!! |

TK has always been a good player we only trade him for a promising young player like Byfield + |

Total fantasyland hypothetical:
Do you trade TK straight up for Byfield but Flyers need to take PLD in return |

Not going to happen in NHL . He is playing power play bumper spot not going to translate. Better known as a defensive defenseman which they could use but Perrault on the other hand could be a star |
|
|
|
For everyone talking of Flyers trading TK if they remain in a solid playoff spot 2 weeks from now zero chance they trade him. They are never going to give up the possibility of making the playoffs . They will sign him |

byfield is not enough to take PLD's contract back |

Well Perrault is at an historic scoring pace as a freshman and has done it everywhere. Will he be a 1.5 ppg player in the NHL no...Could he be a top line winger yes |

Isn't Perrault playing on a strong team? I am sure that helps out a bit |

I don’t think you’re wrong but I’m awfully bullish on Byfield. I still think hes gonna be a stud.
Also….and I’m sure I’m just naive, but I’m an old hockey guy/clueless drug addict dater at heart I guess and can’t look at PLD and not be like “I can change him!” His best years were with Torts….even if he hated it in Columbus |

Could you imagine PLD with Torts? Was he there in Columbus with Torts? |

But like MJL said, you don't have to trade him or sign him yet. You can do that in the offseason. |

Yes he is on a strong team and he is leading that team in points. Even more points then Gauthier |

First few years (most productive) were with him. Grant it, he hated Columbus….and I’m sure Torts’ style had something to do with it.
Honestly if Torts jettisoned Hayes I’m sure HE wants no part of Dubois either. But the idea of those two monsters in the top 6(9) makes this size queen squirm |

Views from outside the bubble appears that it would be heresy of the highest order to trade Konecny.

Everytime I see Petersen start, it is great marketing for his agent with new potential clients. He absolutely abused Blake during that contract negotiation. |
