Yea but that’s the equivalent of what Grieg did not Reilly. And it was hilarious

I remember the hit had Tangredi. Gillies was such a piece of poop. He was the only problem I had in that incident. Michael Haley was the event in that game I liked that most.

Yeah that was probably the only thing in all of that that really crossed the line. Probably not even so much just the hit itself, it wasn't terribly egregious, but the fact that he then continued to punch a concussed Tangredi and then sat in the doorway talking poop to him and the Pittsburgh training staff while they were tending to him.

Would’ve been funny if he pulled a Patrik Stefan and missed the net

wasn’t our response dropping the gloves like 10x the following game?

Yes. I was asking whether you thought it was dumb for us to do so. Should we have made sure to send a message, or just carry on within the rules of the sport?

I’m not going to say it again. Instead I’ll direct you to my response to tj on the previous page

Also, what Wilson did was dangerous to begin with.

I'm asking for a friend, but would you say this is a spot on take?

I would.

I don't know what to tell you. You are being willfully ignorant. These are not even close to the same situation.
This game has had an element of being policed by the players for over 100 years.
The rules have little to do with it. You're right that Grieg did not break any rules, according to the NHL rule book with his actions. But, I think it's rather obvious that he broke the rules of the NHLPA code of conduct book. Judgement and retribution by those standards come swift and often violently.
Don't want to get scored on in an empty net, don't pull the goalie. Also, don't want to get hit in the mouth, don't disrespect your opponent. Not hard to understand.

Tony ----

You and and I are usually agreeable and enjoy the "old time" hockey mentality. Those times have changed and what makes this different is the fact that it was a head shot. Players today are very aware of concussions ( ask our own Chytil ) and any contact to the head is no bueno in the current game. Reilly earned himself a suspension here. Yes, he should have responded, just not with a head shot.

You live in Canada --- this was the Saturday night HNIC broadcast correct? So many young and impressionable viewers watching this: teachable moment for the youngsters. Brace yourself for the incoming suspension tomorrow........
