danny boy needs to hit a home run at this deadline imo. - hello it's me 2050 Me thinks you are going to end up disappointed.

Yes, I gave up going to games in Toronto. I just go to Buffalo to watch the Flyers , get level 100 seats, and hotel for cheaper than a ticket at Leaf game - 3flyerkids
And the food is so much better here too |

This comment isn’t a direct attack on anyone but my question becomes, what's considered a "home run" at the deadline for a team that is on the verge of making the playoffs but should be rebuilding?
Sean Walker for example is an expiring deal. Makes perfect sense to trade him. No argument. I wouldn't be surprised if Walker didn't get moved unless a team like Tampa Bay came calling because Tampa has a hole on D, they probably have a late first and they still believe they're a contender. I also don’t think Briere moves a guy unless the Flyers get what they want.
With this said, Walker has been a top 4 defender for us all season. He's helped us get to this point. Walker gets moved, so Risto has to move up in the line up and I don't think Torts trusts Zamula at even strength. Of course there is always the risk of injury. Walker gets traded. Another defender gets hurt the next game is always a possibility.
Again, I think the Flyers will be careful. I think most deals (not all) will wait until the offseason. |

I willing bet big folding paper money Laughton is an offseason deal. He starts the PK and is dangerous shorthanded. He’s a very handy player both now and in the playoffs. I think him wearing a letter right now comes into play. - roenick97
I would agree. Also the term remaining would shrink the market for him |

I’m so sick of these idiots winning every game. I wish they’d stop trying. 🤪
Anyone see Reilley’s cross check to greig’s face after he scored on an empty net last night? Haha. He snapped and went full dale hunter on turgeon. Of course, leafs fans saw no issue with it. Clowns. - Hextall271
That was crazy but i understand that level of frustration and the disrespect for taking a 2 foot clapper. |

I don’t think the Flyers are willing to sacrifice the playoffs to wheel and deal at the deadline. A lot of these rumored deals can wait until the offseason. The writing may be on the wall for Walker. As a potential playoff team, I think this team should always be concerned with depth on the back end. - roenick97
I agree. I see 2 players tops being dealt. I think they want to see what they have with this group. |

No one (themselves probably included) expected them to be in this spot at this time of year. I thought Zamula had a rough game against Winnipeg and I'm not surprised he sat last night. Lots of decisions to be made in the next few weeks cause it certainly looks like they are going to remain in contention for a playoff spot.

This is not a deep draft at all. Going to be critical to use these picks wisely either moving up or trading for prospects like a Tippett who has skills but not breaking through a lineup - hfc355
I would still target Broberg in Edmonton |

Not a " Canadian thing", just a Leaf fan base mentality, living here i see and hear it every day. 40M on 4 forwards...kind of hard to have a balanced team, I have that argument with many of them - 3flyerkids
It's the same out here on the West Coast. Vancouver fans are just as bad. |

Vancouver fans are just as bad. - TheFreak It just seems to me that Canadians are just rabid fans when it comes to hockey although it seems from down here in the States that the Laffs fans are the worst. Kind of like Eagles fans around here. Hockey is everything up there, and despite there being 4 professional teams in Philly the Eagles far and away have the largest fan base (and the most obnoxious one). |

Not necessarily. I think some teams could see that term at that salary as fair to good value. If he can keep getting 30-40 points I could see him getting a new contract with a small raise somewhere.

Walker should bring back a late 1st. More ammo - Just5
Would you give up a 1st for Walker? |

Would you give up a 1st for Walker? - Pelle31Forever
No, but I wouldn't trade a first unless it was for a bonafide player.... like part of a package for a guy like Forsberg in Nashville. I wouldn't move a first for anything that wan't a top 3 forward or top 2 dman. |
|
|
|
Kaapo Kakko is allegedly available. Rangers allegedly looking to move Goodrow.
Would a laughton, GH, + get a conversation started for those 2 above? Would either team do it? - hello it's me 2050
They'll want youth going back. Rags are already old enough. They do need a center so Laughton makes a little sense. |

Right. I don't think anyone is giving up a 1st for any of our potential trade pieces. |

I can see this division really opening up in the coming seasons if the Flyers manage to do things the right way. The Rags are at the top now, but they have some age on them. The Pens, Caps and Isles are all in bad shape going forward (Columbus is always a mess). Then you have the Canes and Devils that look good going forward. There is a spot there for the Flyers to be regulars in the top 3 of the Metro for a long time IF they do it right!! |

It’s even worse if you factor in reilleys contract as well as the nylander extension. I think it’s something like 54 mil on 4 forwards and a dman. 5 players. And to me, the real kicker is that they have not shown any ability to be successful in the playoffs. Once to the second round in what? 6 years? |

I agree. I’m surprised that the devils have struggled like they have this year but I guess they didn’t have Hughes for a large portion. Caps and pens are likely in for lengthy rebuilds soon. |

Agree however of all the playoff teams currently in position, Flyers are the only ones who won't (or at least shouldn't) be buyers.
Devils and Canes will add. Pittsburgh didn't acquire Karlsson to miss the playoffs, they'll try to add. Metro teams are going to try to get better NOW. Flyers might try to get better long term.

And I’m ok with this. I want to really re stock the cupboards this draft. Wrt pitt, they almost have zero prospect or draft capital to trade due to years of going for it. |
