You can "thank" Torts for this not happening sooner in B2B years by yo-yoing the player into ill-suited spots in the lineup (late Oct to late Nov 2022), moving the goalposts repeatedly, and for 11 scratches this season when there were others who deserved far more to be scratched.

The credit goes to the player.

There are plenty of things Tortorella gets right. This isn't one. No coach ever -- not even the truly elite coaches like Bowman, Shero, Sinden -- was always right. Tortorella is a good coach for implementing structure. He's a good coach for defining the team identity he wants. On the flip side, he's historically been a poor handler of players such as Mats Zuccarello and Frost.

The reality: Torts has been itching for two seasons to pull the plug on Frost. Was ready to do it by November last season and hockey ops overruled it in that case. Danny Briere is the one who believes in the player and is the reason the Flyers didn't just ditch Frost for peanuts.

Well said Bill. If you want to make the playoffs, Tortorella can do that. If you want to win to build and develop a team into a Cup contender and develop young players. Tortorella is not the guy.
