And cue the frost debate......
- Bob Habib

What was left out is that despite leading them in points, for some unGodly reason, he is doing it on like the 4 least amount of TOI. The black hole formerly known as Atkinson probably averages 2-4 more minutes a game than Frost. But you know vet-tran presence....

Forrester out with a possible broken foot. A preference to play the shot blocking game over a possession game was bound to come back and bite them in the ass. But hey, it is much more macho to block a shot than make your opponent look ridiculous by playing keep away....

It is relevant, as most of the scratches happened at the start of the season. Right..so he deserved the benefit of the doubt and more than 2 games to prove himself. He also led the team in the preseason for points.

As Bill stated...he is the Flyers leading scorer since his talk with Torts...that is now for more than the last 10% of this season...so yeah..given the chance he produces..last year, this year.....

So no, not bringing up an old argument, stating why the Frost and Zamula scratches are completly different. Disputing your topic that you brought up.

- TheFreak

Well first, let me apologize for being dismissive. Now, my issue with these arguments is, some people are choosing a certain point of the season to make these types of arguments for Morgan Frost and these arguments are misleading. “Morgan Frost was our leading scorer at even strength during the second half of last season”. That sounds great except Travis Konency got hurt late in the season for 19 or 20 games and at the end of the season was our lead scorer overall last year and this year. Travis Konency is our actual leading scorer without picking a certain point of the season for Frost and running with that. For the record, I disagree with sitting Frost. One or two games in October is fine but Torts really did take it too far. The start of the season was 4 or 5 months ago. Frost is playing and is playing with pretty good support. I think he’s seen maybe 1 scratch in the second half. I’m tired of hearing the excuses. 42 points in 25 games is okay but I’m tired of hearing the “leading scorer” junk.

First, just a minor but important correction, Frost has 25 points in 42 games, not the other way around.

Good point about TK being hurt last season, because you are right, 5v5 TK is the best scorer on this team, last year and this year. Also, this season TK is 3rd on the team in XGF%, Frost is 11th, TK is 2nd on the team in CF%, Frost is 10th. TK averages 14 minutes 5v5 per game, while Frost averages 12 minutes 5v5.

If you're going to use analytics, you really need to learn how to use them. The first thing you need to learn that you need to do is filter out players such as Mete and Staal, Lycksell etc. who have barely played. Out of all the forwards who have played regularly. Only Foerster and Cates, have a higher XGF% than Frost does. Frost is 6th on the team among regular forwards in CF%

Some other numbers for you GF%, Frost is 2nd only to Bobby Brink. SCF%, Frost is 2nd only to Couturier. HDCF%, Frost is 2nd, only to Cates. Points/60, Frost is 6th, slightly behind Couturier and Atkinson.

Konecny's EV/TOI GP is 14:59 and Frost's is 12:58

But you also can't dismiss the fact that Frost did step up and produce...and it wasn't just for a few games, it was the last 57 games of the season...or almost 3/4 of the year. That is still fact regardless of if TK was in or out of the lineup.

Seeing as they play different positions, and Frost didn't replace TK in a position in the lineup, isn't it realistic to think that they would have played more together if TK stayed healthy, and on the PP, and therefore, it would have pushed Frosts numbers even higher?

Plus who is comparing the two? If you compare TK's number to Kucherov or McJesus, he would look similarly worse as a player.

What was Frost numbers compared to therest of the team? Did Frost's numbers pick up a bit when TK went down with injury? You can produce stats to pretty much prove any point...it is a silly thing to do.

Why is so hard for you to say, yeah Frost played well, and his production helped the team last year instead of always trying to prove your distorted point that you think he is an AHL player.

maybe we can have a weekly segment where you explain the metrics in detail. 1 a week.

Sorry my bad, I meant xGF 5v5, not xGF%. For xGF, TK is 3rd on the team, Frost is 11th. HDCF 5v5, Walker leads the team, TK is 4th, Frost is 12th. I don't like to use the % because they are misleading when the numbers are smaller. For example TK has 165 HDCF while Frost only has 103 which is a huge difference.

I could see justifying ND being in the line up if we had a legitimate goal scorer who needed to be protected from getting killed every game. He doesn't have to touch the ice to keep guys on the other team in check. We lack a top notch scorer that needs protection. Even Reaves has fallen out of favor in TOR. I don't support having ND in the line up.

Any chance we see Samu now that Forester will miss time?

Frost had a good second half of the season last year, and even this year especially lately he has been producing, there is no question about that. All I am saying is I agree that its misleading to state Frost lead the team in 5v5 scoring last season because if TK did not miss 21 games, he easily would have lead the team in 5v5 scoring as he does this year.

But, hey, Frost does look good as a Phantom, doesn't he?

This seems like a stretch to blame coach/management/flyers brass/im angry at this crew….

This is hockey. You actually should block shots if you can. Unfortunately you can get hit by pucks.

I get you’re frustrated and impatient to get a Stanley Cup…me too guy.

There are a ton of annoying things every day. Lets not manufacture stress on top of what we’re all feeling, yeah?
