Why was Rielly so frustrated?
Poor coaching.
Average goaltending.
Lazy turnovers in o-zone.
Lazy turnovers in d-zone.
Lazy turnovers in neutral zone.
Lack of hustle.
Lack of urgency.
Lack of giving a crap.
Maybe he was thinking about why Keefe changed the D pairings end of 1st, start of 2nd that cost the team 2 goals. Start the game with Benoit on LD and McCabe on RD but then switch the tandems while moving McCabe to LD and Benoit to RD. Maybe he was wondering why he took a discount when no others did. Maybe he was wondering why the last guy back at the blue line threw the puck into the opponents shin pads. Maybe he was wondering why the Leafs got no PP during the game.
Biggest mistake was Shanahan hiring Kyle Dubas.
Loser fan boy Shanny punted Lou for wonder boy Dubas. Shanny’s hiring of Dubas is directly responsible for the Leafs lack of success.
Maybe that’s why Rielly is frustrated, who knows? - Strider
That’s a lot to process in the few seconds between when Greig put the puck in the net and Morgan cross checked him.

In that photo of Stamkos whaling away on Matthews, you can see Marner standing helplessly off to the side, watching the assault on his teammate, and he looks bored. He looks like he's imagining himself in his zen place.

Apparently as long as they're getting points, that doesn't matter. No need to play tough. |

So just so I'm clear here, you want Matthews to be punching guys?
Matthews, who leads the league in goals, who has won the Richard Trophy twice and was the 2022 Ted Lindsay Award and Hart Memorial Trophy winner, should also be the team enforcer?
And if so, should McDavid also be punching faces? - Atomic Wedgie
i want greedy pencil neck female dog to take a little time off from turning the puck over and punch someone in the face 🤦♂️
everyone talks about him like he’s killer doughie fresh reincarnated but all he does is shop for big hats to wear on the bus and think of sick new ice dancer moves to try out whenever the (frank) he feels like it.🤦🏿♂️
dougie fresh pooned the blond with the big cans in the video and pencil neck got pussie whooped by his his first piece of ass and got her knocked up so he had to marry her🤦♂️
what a (frank)ing joke🤦🏿♂️
edit:nice alliteration 👍 |

But they’ll have you believe here that Lou (frank)ed the team with bad contracts, and Dubas was the literal Jesus Christ for the next 5 years. Everything he did was amazing. Giving those contracts, letting Hyman go for nothing, trading Kadri (hE hAd tO gO,”) among many other bad signing and total lack of vision was all perfectly fine.
He eventually stood up to Daddy, and got fired. That’s what Shanny canned him for. No let the lack of success, he was more than prepared to reward KD for failure, but because he stood up to Shanny.
Shanny is the cancer here.. It’s always been him. (frank)er came in and changed the logo to an oak leaf, then made us suffer with Hall and Oates for 8 years. |

Well… it’s mostly him.
Because he visibly doesn’t try. He avoids contact. He’s scared of scrums. - Arctic_AARDVARK
he's a goal scorer, not a fighter. |

Yeah man I don’t disagree.
Especially Matthews.
They all look like deer in the headlights when things get spicy.
How about this 34 & 16.

Question: Do you think the Leafs have achieved adequate success during Shanahan’s tenure as Pres?
In 10 years here’s what he did…
2014: He tanked the team
2015: Tank again. Drafted Matthews.
2016: Made the playoffs (great success! (Borat))
2017: 1st rd exit
2018: 1st rd exit
2019: 1st rd exit
2020: missed playoffs (lost to awful CLB team play-in)
2021: 1st rd exit vs Habs
2022: 1st rd exit
2023: beat badly injured TB team, got crushed in 2nd rd.
2024: ??? - Arctic_AARDVARK
I didn't say they achieved adequate success.
I just said they were considerably worse before the Shanahan era.
Oh and the bolded.

So Blues vs. Leafs ce soir in a classic Norris division confrontation. I'll miss it cause I'll be at church for Pancake Tuesday dinner, sucking back fat stacks of flapjacks. 6-0 Leafs, Matthews hat trick, Nylander hat trick. Go Leafs Go wooooooooooooo

I know this is HB so I have to let go of people having level-headed takes. But absolutely nobody said Dubas was a genius incapable of making mistakes. He had some growing pains and made mistakes, but I think the biggest front office issue was Shanny firing Dubas right after he finally admitted the core wasn't working. Last year was the year he'd seen enough and was ready for change this year. And Shanny said nope, we're keeping the core together.
& Lou made an absolute Mid team on the Island for the past 4 years. He's not good and irrelevant to Dubas |

I didn't say they don't score enough points.
Remember Marchand slew-footing Lily? And their lack of response? And the hundred other incidents that have happened since this core was forged? It's their lack of push-back that's the problem. If your core is soft, it doesn't matter what you put around it, I don't think they'll be capable enough to have a real shot a cup. Talent can take you far, but only so far.
Then again, I do understand your point that maybe it'd depth scoring and bad defense that's sinking the Leafs, and toughness has a lot less to do with it than I personally think. If that's the case, the problem is CAP management, a whole different issue.
Either way I don't see how people can look at this team and call it a contender. - UsernameUnknown
No ..you want 34, 16 and 88 to defend themselves not jump into fights when they don't have to. None of them know how to fight ...it'd be murder.
For me, 34 has started to show a bit of that ...get the stick up, give a hit after taking a hit. The other night I saw him identify a guy he wanted to hit and he made a point of taking a good run at the guy. He's got to pick his spots.
I expect the same from 16 and 88 (and everyone else in hockey) but they haven't shown it yet ...buttery soft. |

I don't have it on this machine, but I do on my laptop. What I really need is a sneeze guard for the back of the laptop though, for when I watch Willy highlights.

Exactly. Like I said, I've seen Matthews get mad and go into beast mode. It's really fun to watch.
Defending themselves is an improvement, but still.. Who tf says you can't be the agitator. I don't expect the core of go out of their way to muck poop up, but like I said, I'd love it if they did, and they'd be a better hockey team for it.
I hate that the Leafs just have to take it and take it and take it. Maybe dish it out first for once. |

Yes?
Why is that so shocking?
Crosby gets pissed
MacKinnon gets pissed
McDavid gets pissed
Draisaitl gets pissed
Kucherov gets pissed
Marchand gets pissed
Tkachuks get pissed
Barzal gets pissed
All other elite players get pissed off…
But the Leafs top 4 forwards?????
