I feel like the issue is less about Nylander, Matthews, Marner and more about how Domi and Bertuzzi are making $8.5 million combined and have scored the same nnumber of goals as Bunting (who is getting 3rd line ice time this season).
- BINGO!

Bertuzzi could be the worst signing of Summer 2023.

The guy has provided absolutely nothing for his $5.5M.

Apologists will say we signed him for the playoffs, but FFS, he's only ever played 7 playoff games (yes, he played well in them, but c'mon).

Ryan Graves says hi

1 year deals are never the worst signings

Graves has been one of the worst rated D this season and is signed 4.5M for another 6 years

If one thing is for certain from the Dubas firing is it saved us from an absolute killer contract being signed

Justin Holl is also playing 15 mins a night being paid 3.5M for another 3 seasons

The thought of Dubas signing Holl and Graves as a pairing for 8M gives me nightmares

This has always been a Leafs Nation thing.

We hate our best players (my guess is a weird resentment of the large $$$$) and worship the fourth line guys who show hustle, punch a few faces, and have absolutely no impact on the game whatsoever - or a negative effect.

This apologist will agree it's a poop signing. But look at July and August and find me a signing you'd prefer. Bunting ...for 3 years? Canes were trying to cut bait on him already. Killorn ...4 years? It's all poop Wedgie. Bert and Domi have one redeeming quality .....1 yr deals.

Same for the blue line ....Holl or Graves are burying their teams cap space for years. Karlsson looks like a poop add. Klingberg's only value is he's a 1 yr failure ..and he did us all a solid by hurting himself for the year.

It was a really really poopty UFA class in 23'. There's an apologists argument to say that if you had to add (and lets face it Tree had to sign people) these were the lesser of the evils.

I'm giving Tree this summer to sell me on what he can do. 24' UFA market is looking much better. Get 'er done.

I think a more level-headed take would be some people think "would it be too much to ask for the high end skill to play like they give a care. Some type of edge."
That's it. I don't think any fan should have to question their stars' passion for the game.
And that seems to be a rational opinion.
I don't think saying that means I hate them. I have a Tavares and Marner jersey for a reason. I'm not running out to buy a Kampf or Reeves jersey any time soon.

This is the sound of the Leafs living rent free in your head.

You are more obsessed with the Leafs than the Leaf fans in here, congratulations.

Nylander, Matthews and Marner are in the top 15 in the league for scoring.

It's franking bizarre that Leafs fans would accuse them of not caring.

But you know who really cares?

The fact you keep coming on a leaf board to check just further proves how obsessed you are with a team you do not cheer for.

Keep it up, it is hilarious to watch.

My favourite Ryan Reaves moment was in the playoffs a couple years ago.

Reaves was taking a big game about how if he had been on the ice the Canes would have had to keep their heads up.

Brind'amour, when asked about it: "Well, I don't know what he's waiting for."

I’ve only accused Nylander of not caring.

Which has been proven.

Or at least it’s been proven that he cares less now that he’s been paid.

He’ll have one more outburst of production, starting in about 7 and a half years, and will only last until his next contract is signed.

Here's my analogy of the UFA summer of 23'.

Ms. Law sent me out for avocado's the other day. I had one job ...get avocado's ..don't forget the avocado's. Sidenote - I take a lot of heat for forgetting things.

I got there and they had poopty individual avocado's and an expensive bag of poopty avocado's. They were all poop.

I balked at buying the bag of poopty avocado's and bought the individual poopty avocado b/c if I came home empty handed Ms. Law would've said "you (frank) up ...you forgot the avocado!".

This summer he'll probably have about 10M to dedicate to a pair of blueliners. Does he wait until the summer when it's a little more risky and costly or does he strike now.

I think if he strikes now it'll be a bigger deal for a guy with term.

Bure had more ice time in his last 350 games than Reaves had in all of his combined.

(They didn't track ice time during Bure's first 6 NHL seasons)
