I don't know.

Using Buffalo as a hypothetical since they seem to have been mentioned, I would take a one for one in Krebs for Laughton possibly.

If your not getting a player, then I could see a playoff team offering something like a 1st and 3rd for him.

But I don't know.

- J35Bacher

Krebs has done nothing at the NHL level. It should be Krebs + 2nd rounder at least for Laughton.

Krebs is the kind of buy low player they should be giving a look. I do not want him in a trade for Laughton though.

for a mid rd pick and/or fledgling prospect sure take a look. Not giving up anything of real value.

cant imagine a coach like torts unearthing his offensive game.

Scott Laughton does as much to win games for the Flyers as any player, yet I don't see the outrage from anyone on this forum that this year in 54 games Laughton is averaging less than 12 minutes of ice time per game, and he kills penalties.

Torts is lucky he didn't lose the player...many thought Frost would demand a trade.

Frost has always had the skill, and has produced at every level. His adjustment, offset by a serious injury plus Covid was slowed, and the player took a while to properly adjust to the NHL. I don't think that Torts is the main reason for Frost playing like he has been. He just needs the ice time. Which is what my biggest gripe with Torts has been all year..his usage of players and their ice times. He has overplayed some players as much as he has underplayed others.

But yes, I do feel Torts is lucky he didn't lose Frost.

- TheFreak

Ice time is earned, not given. Frost has to earn his ice time like everyone else on the team. Frost is not the only player to be benched this year or last year. Frost is not the only player on the team that has played limited minutes. This crusade to save Frost from the tyrant is just laughable to me. If Frost plays well and helps the team win games, he will play and play a lot. For this to happen, he must play assertive consistently, attack the middle of the ice and not defer. If he does this, this crusade will be over. For me, I would like to see Frost look like he did last night against a team like the Bruins, or the Rangers. That is what I am missing from him so far.

So how have guys like ND, Laughton, Atkinson, Poehling,Cates, etc, etc get more ice time than him?

He has played like that against teams like Tampa, Dallas and Winnipeg. Multi point nights, throwing a hit ir two, skating hard...this isn't a fluke.

What exactly do you think a fair deal is?
- ClaudeFather

He will get paid most definitely and it will be market rate. What scares me is the 8-year term. Paying him and Couturier around $18MM will into their 30's does not bode well. Yes, I know that these contracts sometimes age well, but now we will have to have two of them age well....

Dallas and Winnipeg didn’t show up in the games we played them. A better argument might be the 2 assists against Colorado.

Again, I don’t think Frost is bad but nobody is talking about the many games this season when he went 0 for…

A lot of multi point games but also a player well under a point per game this season.

Just to inject some facts into you perceptions, 5v5 Cates averages less than 11 minutes per night, Deslauriers averages 8 minutes per game, and Atkinson and Poehling average less than 12 minutes a game. So Frost actually averages more 5v5 time than any of these players. Also, as you have seen as the season has rolled along, Deslauries is playing less and less. So what are really complaining about??

Right, Frost is not a bad player, not by a long shot. But given the type of player he is and where he can best serve in a lineup, he has to play assertive, offensive hockey, and if he does he can be an effective player.

But they still dressed while Frost sat, so that is 8 minutes, 11 minutes and12& 12/ game for what? 8 games more than Frost.

I hope to Magu that this nonsense is over with, and Frost remains in the lineup playing up to his talents. So sick of defending this issue. Why can't we all just be happy he is performing and getting better as the year progresses.

and when does the player get credit, instead of the coach for his play? I just wonder where Frost would be if he had the security last year and earlier this year that he was playing. Confidence is huge in this game..you hear it all the time..he's squeezing his stick when a player is in a drought. What Torts did was screw with Frost's confidence, which set the player back. Frost could have been playing at this level all season if the coach just let him play. It's not like he no showed the preseason either..he was the leading scorer in the preseason.
- TheFreak

If he had security, as you put it, he’d still be playing the perimeter and disappearing. Like he did with multiple coaches that didn’t like his game. It wasn’t until the coach challenged him and his comfort that he started playing to his potential. You guys can’t have it both ways - why even bring up that he’s had the most points since this meeting with the coach if you’re not going to give him any credit whatsoever - even after the player admits it himself?

Laughton is likely a 1st round pick and maybe a 3rd for a return. Buffalos 2nd round pick won’t be that far behind a contenders 1st round pick. At least by acquiring Krebs, the Flyers won’t have a hole at center by trading Laughton right now.

As an offseason trade I would hate it. At the deadline, I could see the logic. Would want Buffalo to throw in another pick like a 3rd rounder though.
