When is the parade scheduled for having played the most outdoor games? - MJL
It’s a mark of shame having played so many of these. Another obstacle to the rebuild. Haha. |

You know, I remembered he had. I only started really watching the team in 1984 ish so the older ones were a struggle. I though ashbee had served as a captain but was wrong. |

If the Flyers put Ellis on LTIR they have about 14m in available salary cap....?! 😳
That's a lot of space to take on toxic contracts in order to obtain better assets.
Get em, DB!
When was the last time that the flyers had this much cap space available? |

No idea but I’d be all over weaponizing the cap space like that. To me, the leafs should not be able to routinely get our from under these bad contracts by sending them to the team dr to get a note saying career over. Ltir. They should be forced to pony up picks to have us or zona take bad contracts. |

Depending on the amount of the players cap hit I could see getting a 1st to take on 5m of bad cap.
It would be nice to find the next Monohan and double dip on 1st round picks like MTL did. That was a sly and smart move

We’ve got two. Imagine if we could get another first? Really help re stock the cupboards. Very important draft needless to say. |

I thought Rostolainen and the entire 4th line was putting us over the cap. |

Why should the rules be different for Toronto than for other teams?

Have to look at history. Arizona got a 6th round draft pick to take on Voracek. They got a 5th round pick to take on Shea Weber.

I believe the leafs are circumventing the rules by routinely having bad contracts stuffed away magically by injuries. We saw it last year with Murray. How did he go from I’m fully healthy in the playoffs to the leafs declaring that he’s really badly hurt and career over. The same happened with lupul and others. All teams should have to adhere to the rules but my point is the leafs routinely seem to find loopholes in order to get around bad contracts. |

It's not a loophole. A team doesn't just say this player in injured and were putting him on LTIR. A team doctor has to supply medical documentation to the league that there is a legitimate injury. That doctor would be risking his medical license if he was providing false documentation. Think about from the players perspective. If he was not legitimately injure to the point that he couldn't play, would he just sit back and say I guess my career is over because the Leafs say so? Or would the player file a grievance through the NHLPA and fight it? The Leafs aren't doing anything with LTIR that any other team isn't doing.

As I remember it lupul did challenge the leafs on his career ending ltir designation. Does it not looks suspicious to you that marruay went from I’m all good. Not playing and then modestly. Career over. Can the players challenge a doctors findings? I suspect not. Long reg is yet another bad contract that they have conveniently found a way to stash away.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10109560-2024-nhl-stadium-series-how-john-tortorellas-tenacity-has-rebuilt-underdog-flyers - hello it's me 2050 Pretty much bang on. For those that hate Torts on here...have a gander! He has turned what was supposed to be another wasted season of mediocrity into something to enjoy. I hope they stay the course with the rebuild, but Torts is the single biggest reason that they are where they are in the standings (along with having Coots and to a lesser degree Atkinson back). |

I believe those deals were at gaining oanother form of compensation... they helped the Yotes gain the lower floor of the mandatory cap range... Arizona took on bargain contracts with cap greater than salary owed, and was financial rather than future selection oriented; getting the low selections were merely icing on the cake. The Yotes example was really not a proper one. If Danny is to gain better selections for taking on bead contracts -- not saying he should, you do understand -- he of course has to go about it in a different manner than Arizona did. You can call me Captain Obvious on that one. 😏 |

Do you think that the Leafs and Murray faked his bi-lateral hip surgery that he had on Oct. 9th? Absolutely a player can challenge a doctor's findings.
