also, i am not a big vodka drinker. it was in some mixed drink i had 10 or 20 of over a two day period.

Technically, anything distilled to 95 proof is Vodka. It could be grain, potatoes or christmas trees. You ferment and vaporize it enough times, it's vodka.

If as part of their process they're distilled to 95%, yes (sorry, I said proof earlier). It's the dilution process (water, oak tannins, juniper berries for gin) that break them into their final classifications.

But you can't make whiskey out of potatoes - or anything but grain. In order for it to be whiskey, must come from grain. Vodka can be made from anything.

i drink it with coke from time to time (actually diet coke because the only people i hang with who drink it drink it that way).

i've never tried just drinking whiskey though.

yeah, i prefer diet with mine when i mix too.

i like using the ice to not only cool off the whiskey, but as it melts the water mellows out the harsh alcohol notes.
