yeah, i prefer diet with mine when i mix too.

i like using the ice to not only cool off the whiskey, but as it melts the water mellows out the harsh alcohol notes.

a bit more mellow than Captain Morgan, also not as sweet. EXCELLENT mixed with Diet Coke.

When I have a single malt scotch it's always by itself, or sometimes with a tiny bit of water.

If it's blended whisky I don't mind mixing it with coke or sometimes ice. Ice dilutes the whisky but it also makes it cold which makes it harder to pick up a lot of the flavour and smell so I don't do that if it's high quality whisky. It's the same thing with beer really. As a beer warms the flavours start to come out. Have it ice cold and it tastes like nothing.
