Meeting a buddy out for dinner tomorrow, place has some non-BPL beers. For you Yeastheads, any reccos among the below? Was going to have one hoppy, one not. I like the Delirium well enough, but wanted something new.

I haven't had the ones I bolded but the rest are keepers. Rochefort 8 or 10 is what I'd get personally. That or the Westmalle tripel or dubbel. You can't go wrong with any of them though.

Yes I did. I had some over the weekend and I enjoyed it. The rye malt makes it very drinkable. I wish I had bought a case when the shelves were stocked with it. My local distributor is all out

That was my impression, glad the recco hit home.

Sierra Nevada, being semi-local is still well represented on the shelves here of course.

I spent some time in Florida over the last 7 days about 40 minutes from where this brewery resides. Needless to say the local distributors had a nice selection of their stuff. I selected this one and was not disappointed.

I think it's just related to the ABV. Higher number = higher ABV, but the exact ABV varies from beer to beer. Seems to just be a general guideline.

BTW the Houblon Chouffe 8 sounds like it might be more to your taste. I've never had it but from what I just read it's basically a standard Belgian ale but it's hopped like an IPA.

That's interesting... and the number helps a lot. I'll go middle of the road.

I do love my hops beers, but in this case I'm looking for a departure. So good for future reference but think I'll be sticking with your first fine suggestion.

i'm a BIG fan of achel blond, never had the xtra

maredsous and westmalle are great

not a fan of the orval, but since we have such different tastes in beer maybe you would like that one?
