Have not watched either team play....................how do they measure up against whoever comes out of the Eastern Conference?
- Doppleganger

The Ducks match up very well physically and talent-wise with the Sens. That would be a brutal series for sure. I heard they lost Kunitz - that will be a blow.

But the Wings seem to just control the game so well. It would be interesting to see the Sens go against the Wings system. They allow so few shots and they also seem to sneak in goals. Offensively like the Sabres in that they sneak in rushes and play well downlow. And of course, there's Hasek - how's that for a Stanley Cup Final? The proud legend that the Sens gave up on, back for revenge.

Well I just got a couple more kinds to try. I got 3 Bitburger and 3 Stella. Had to buy individual cans (for $2.35 each I think) but at least I can see if I like them before heading to hull for a better deal.

Personally, from what I have seen, Anaheim was dominated this series. The only thing keeping the Wings in the series seems to be Hasek.

I'd love to see a Ducks-Sens final.

I agree (not that the Ducks "dominated", but definitely the better team), but I was referring to how they match up against the Sens. I think the Ducks are style-wise a better match, but the Wings are just amazing to me how they can control a game. Look at how few shots they allowed all year. Then you get a shot and its against the Dominator, who is on top of his game. Not to mention the offensive skill.

Either way, Wings off to a good start tonight. 2-0 after 1.

Yikes, not tonight. Ugly game by the Ducks, but usually after a blowout the loser comes back strong.

Back to the topic,

Fav : AK & Rickards Red

Fav to get tanked: AK, Ex

Worst : When I was on a budget, we'd get the Black Label 10's... basically turpuntine in a bottle. Recently I tried Rickards White, i'm not really a fan of citrus in my beer, so that killed it for me. Anyone remember Labatt 50 ?

Sorry, but you have that story wrong. Hasek gave up on the Senators. He was working as usual in practise, looking like gumby, but refused to play untill he felt 100%.

When the playoffs started, everyone in the Media reported the same, and saw this guy working so hard in practice, pain free, and doing all his off ice streching etc. For sure it was a matter of time before he was back in the line up, before the end of the first round.

During the second round, he was approached by his teammates, man to man, and was practially begged to play...............he refused, and basically burnt his bridges with his teammates. There was no way he was going to return after bailing on his teammates.

He has done this (pulling the chute) before with Buffalo and Detroit........so, yes it would be interesting to see him in the Finals, should Ottawa make it there also.

Well I like the Bitburger. I think I will go and try to find a case of it in Quebec. Just 2 of them did a pretty good number on me and they went down nice.

I purchased 6 Tubourg and 6 Grolsch last night for tonights game. I don't plan on drinking them all, just prefer to have leftovers!

I think i'll try Dopplegangers gameplan - one beer each period - but I'll add a beer to the pre-ame show and the post-game show.

You know I have never actually tried poutine but I guess the other stuff a half (or fully) drunken person eats doesn't help either.

I dunno. I'll see what selection they have at Scotiabank place tonight and if the team holds up their end of that deal then we'll know.

I don't think beer goes well with a sweep. Call some Atlanta fans.. Ask them what they were drinking after the first round. Maybe a Pale Ale. I think most Dark Beers would be to heavy for a sweep.

If I could find any Blackened Voodo out of Dixie brewery I'd try to put on a spell, but Hurricane Katrina pretty much put them on hold. That was a pretty good beer.

At $2.35 a can that would be $56.40 for 24. In Hull, the case of 24 is $41.11 including the $4.80 deposit on the cans.

If you return the 24 cans the case then is $36.31 or $1.51 each per can of beer.

$56.40 - 36.31 = $20.09 cheaper in Quebec

If you go, take your empty cans (bought in Ontario) to see if the can machine right at the enterence (near the tire installation bays) accepts the Ontario cans.

Jimbo, I usually buy three cases (of Bitburger) on each beer run which lasts well over three months. I just leave them in the Basement, where they stay cool, before grabbing a few to put in the fridge.

Cool - thanks for the advice. I may buy 2 or 3 as well. I don't see why they wouldn't take the ontario ones. It says right on them 20 cent refund in Quebec.

Well pop (soda) cans are not refundable in Ontario, and a deposit in not charged. Quebec does, and the Can Machines do not accept Ontario cans, only cans made and sold in Quebec. The machine can tell the difference by scanning the barcode, or the top of the can, which are copper coloured in Quebec, and silver coloured in Ontario,

But the Bitburger is imported from Germany, and I'll bet the machine takes yours, because they all come from the same place.

Czechvar (I sound like a broken record). It's highly regarded as one of, if not the best Lagers in the World. Outside of the US, it may also be known by it's original name Budvar. A-B sued them when they tried to bring it to the US claiming trademark infringement. Those swill brewers at A-B could only dream of making a beer even comparable to Czechvar.

The origins of Budweiser come from Czechoslovakia.

Anheuser-Busch was founded by German immigrants, the American brewers say. Adolphus Busch (a German-born American beer brewer) adopted the name Budweiser in 1876. He is said to had thought it was a great idea to give the beer distinct and evocative name --Budweiser - that reminded him of his old country which already was well-known for its high quality beer products, and was also to be brewed in the same style the Czech/German lager-style beers were.
