it was the unibroue la terrible we had a few gates back. desi brought it. strong but delicious (and the beer wasn't bad either).

i don't like most overly-strong beers because i feel like it overpowers the taste of the beer for me, but i can usually drink them. i bet if i try these again, i'd like them.

i'm just scarred, like how you have that one experience as a kid where you get sick off goldschlager and can never drink it again without puking.

Speaking of fruit beers...

Spoke with some guys from Unibroue at the Gatineau Festibiere, and they'll soon discontinue the Éphémère Cassis (blackcurrant) and replace it with a Cherry one. Tried it... disappointing, especially coming from Unibroue. Tastes like Slush Puppie.

I really like Mead Hall, though it's in Cambridge. You can access via mass transit. Apparently site is down now but here's yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/meadhall-cambridge

Also, Harpoon apparently has a great beer tour and beer hall, like their stuff.

Not so sure on the spots for Belgians, will need someone else to weigh in.

I actually like Belgium... and a couple of their beers(Affligem blonde, Rochefort 8, and some kreiks)

But nothing Belgium can produce makes up for the horror that is a Belgian wit.

Had it on tap in Chambly last year. Awesome. Dunham are to hoppy beers what Unibroue are to Belgian beers.

A co-worker knows the guys at Dunham. They were supposed to be in Gatineau, but their 2nd anniversary was on the same weekend.

They will only be in Québec, Sherbrooke and Vermont this year. The Montréal Mondial's management pissed them off this winter, so they're boycotting it

They've changed place this year (still indoor), but in the last few years, it was in a huge brown and beige concrete room. Meh.
