These are selling out like crazy in Toronto but I was lucky enough to grab 4 (it IS the Armand & Tommy edition). So expensive but I'm pretty excited anyway.

This too!

In my desperate search to find a Schneider Hopfenweisse replacement I'm revisiting this.

I had it last summer and it just tasted like any other hefeweizen to me, but after reading some reviews it seems like I must've just got a really stale one where the hops lost all their freshness. People are saying it's citrusy, with tropical fruit, etc etc but I didn't get anything like that whatsoever.

The bottle I just bought was bottled in January. It's stale as (frank) too so my hopes are so low

(frank)ing LCBO. Even the Lupulus bottles here are super stale. They're all from October. You can't drink a beer that needs fresh hops after 6+ months and expect it to taste anything like it's supposed to.

I'm a little less than half way through the hopfenweisse and I have to say that it is amazing. So good lol. I'm glad I gave it a second chance. I can't imagine how stale the one I had in Quebec must have been for it to have zero hop aroma or flavor. This sucker is just bursting with mango, grapefruit, etc. A little extra sweetness and it'd be flawless but its great as it is. Time to buy a ton more since im going to make it my summer drink.

They call it the NIPA (Nano IPA). It's from BSG (Brasseurs Sans Gluten, literally Gluten-Free Brewers).

Most of their beers are really great, and not just for gluten-free beers.

Awesome. I have some family members who have a gluten allergy so this could be helpful info, thanks.

Amarillo hops, interesting. I love St Feuillien beers and the Green Flash beers I've had have been good when fresh.

Was reading a home brew recipe for a gluten free ale ... using carrots instead of malt ... blew my mind.

So weird ... same book had a Mustard Ale in it

Lots of good looking recipes in it too ... but those two sounded like a little much.

Sorgho, rice, millet, buckwheat and quinoa are also gluten free maltable grains.

But carrots... I'll believe it when I taste it

There was also rice in that recipe, I've seen it used in quite a few home brews but the carrots were a first.

This was terrific, real nice and chocolatey, not overly bitter. Good stuff, I've really liked pretty much everything I've had from Orkney.

I bet that puppy is great on tap. I'm having a bottle right now. It's so average stale, yet so amazing fresh.

I wish the only cafe here would get their stuff on tap actually. They get tons and tons of Unibroue, St Ambroise, and DDC stuff on tap but I don't think I recall ever seeing LTM or even Charlevoix on tap there. They have lots of bottles but it's not the same.

edit: 2nd 750ml bottle now lol. I love friday.

Best of this particular style yet. I think I detect a hint of rye malt in there.

Davies, what are your opinions on these Black IPA Frankenbrews? Approve, disapprove?

Just curious?
