crims, here's what i learned. the scotch you drink and the scotches i seem to like are referred to apparently as speyside scotches.

turns out there are a handful of different scotch producing regions in scotland and the taste kind of has to do with the region it's from (in most cases). the ones we like are from speyside. they were described to me as sweeter and not needing an extra smokey peat blast (whatever that meant!).

i just wanted to share because it is just one more of the many many things we have in common. we're practically twins.

after i read up on it all i always figured if someone wants bourbon rather than whisky or scotch they want it to be sweeter. but like i said, i haven't tried many bourbons yet. so i may have only drawn the conclusion that they are sweeter from what i read and i could be dead wrong.

all of that being said, you have never steered me wrong when it comes to fine spirits and i am still a n00b.

Rye is nice and spicy. Alberta Premium is my fav but I haven't bought any in years.

bourbon is a bit smoother with a cinnamon kick at the end....for me anyway

i bought the bulleit rye on nfph's recommendation and i liked it but it was a little smokier than i liked. still good though. i'd drink it again and everything.

i think i might like it a little smoother and maybe even sweeter because i had a good time over the holidays with a bottle of irish whiskey at a party. and i thought i wasn't going to like irish whiskey because people always say it's too sweet.
