This 11% abv version of our Fraoch is matured in ex-sherry casks previously used to mature Auchentoshan single malt. Brewed as an 11% Fraoch Heather Ale then matured in ex-sherry & single malt whisky casks giving a rich creamy brew, full of notes of sherry & barley wine with a wood & whisky finish.

Coming soon to the LCBO! It sounds really good.

First homemade beer

I can say that I once paid for worse brews. Tastes like a decent IPA and didn't get infected, so I guess that's a success

Next one will be a belgian ale.

Had a Shawinigan Handshake from LTdD last night. Pretty decent, unfortunately gin has ruined me for super piney hops so it limited my enjoyment.

Awesome, it's an addiction once you get into it

One trick that took me a year to bother doing but wish I would have started doing sooner, if your carboy (or bucket or whatever you're fermenting in) will fit in the fridge, pop her in there a day or two before bottling and it'll "cold crash" and knock a bunch of the proteins and yeast out of suspension to the bottom and you'll wind up with a crystal clear brew. Obviously don't worry about it with Hefe's or certain Belgians but for everything else, I'll do it.

Oh and I've heard people pronounce it properly but I can't repeat it lol.

They have serious consistency issues with Handshake. Sometimes it's amazing and other times it tastes completely different.
