Well, primary fermentation is a lot stronger than I guessed. May have filled it a smidge high, wort actually bubbled up through the airlock. Oops.

Cleaned the mess, going to let it do it's thing rather than break the seal. It's still bubbling away so that seems the best course of action. I'll just clean the lock and replace before I put it in for the second carboy session.

Bottled the belgian pale ale yesterday. Looks good and smells good.

Only tasted it with the bottling honey , so it was a little bit too sweet, but it looks like a success. Will get back to you in two weeks

i was in a fancy schmancy liquor store and decided to leave with some bourbon (i mean, i paid for it).

i chose woodford reserve kentucky straight bourbon because i'd heard of it and it was on sale.

i think someone in here might have even mentioned it to me before.

has anybody had it? is it a good choice?

i have tried it since posting that. i liked it.

i just don't know how it compares to other bourbons because although i have been threatening to get into them for a long time i never actually bought one so i have no point of reference.

someone in the flyers thread mentioned japanese whiskey which i have since researched and sounds amazing but they all seem pretty expensive.

i also developed an appreciation for irish whiskey at a bar this afternoon and want to get heavily into that and then eventually some rehab.
