pay the ferryman porter

(frank)ing mexican beer. (says cerveceria mexicana, whoever they are)

twist off cap and all

cool skull though.

anyway, i suppose the last thing you'd ever expect a mexican porter (of all things) to be is great. surprisingly, this is actually pretty good though. it doesn't taste like corona with coffee at all.

it's kind of chocalatey. not spectacular or anything, that'd be crazy. but it's not terrible. doesn't drink like a porter but it smells like one. i won't go out of my way looking for this again but i wouldn't turn one down or anything.

there was also this 1 quart bottle of something called mississippi mud black & tan. the bottle looked fun to me but i felt like it definitely was gonna be bad for some reason so i didn't buy it.

I tend to assume that with fancy bottles too. It's like they know their beer is garbage so they have to make the bottle as cool as possible in order to fool people into buying it.

That's not actually how it works but I refuse to buy them just in case.

drinking the london porter right now and it actually gave me goosebumps.

to me, it's perfect. there may be better porters but this is exactly what i think a porter should be. the chocolate smell the chocolate taste, the coffee, the perfect amount of sweetness without being overwhelmed by sweetness, the drinkability.

accompanied by the original layla coming on the ipod at the exact time. that could only help anything, right? (i will put it in the song thread cause it belongs there, although ironically i just put clapton in there less than an hour ago)

anyway, this is one of the tops for me so far as far as porters go (and i think that's my favorite style of beer). i wish i'd bought more than one.

nice, glad you like it.

as far as porters/stouts that come in under 5.5% go london porter is god-tier. ridiculously good for such a sessionable beer.
