Rickards is pretty awful. It wouldn't be so bad if it was cheap, but the fact that it is so damn expensive on top of being so tasteless makes it awful!

Tasteless? Maybe to a beer connoisseur such as yourself, but not to me!

Agreed, everyone kept telling me it was so amazing then it was like.....meh. I prefer my Bud Light to that.

In time you'll try many more beers and develop your taste further. Lots of people in here make the list of beers I've had look tiny so I'm still far away from finding out all the beers that are good (to me) myself. I've pretty much had everything that can be bought at the beer store though.. so it's not easy finding new stuff to try now

There are tons of beer stores but they all carry pretty much the same beers. There's not a whole lot of variety. They claim each store has an average of 230 different brands but from store to store the actual beers available are nearly identical. So while that sounds like a lot of different beers it's nothing compared to what you'd find outside of Ontario.

And, being in toronto, you are forced to pay $6 - $10 more per case of 24 than you would for the exact same beer in Quebec.

Exactly. That's the beauty of going to Quebec. Not only can you find a better variety if you are willing to try a bunch of different stores but it's much cheaper. Too bad I can only go there once or maybe twice a year.

I was on vacation on beautiful Lake Erie in Ontario last week and choked on the prices! I can get a few varieties of Molson and of course Labatts here for less than 1/2 those prices. Just don't have the selection.

The prices really are sickening here. I find it crazy that we pay more for beer that is brewed locally than you guys do even though it's imported for you guys

Ah, okay. Got one for ya'll.

Caffrey's Irish Ale.

For you Canadien folks, if you haven't had it, go pick some up and count yourselves lucky. They don't sell it here in the U.S. anymore (hate Miller Co). It's awesome, awesome stuff. Probably my favorite of all time.

Oh very much so. But I'm not a Bud loyalist per-say. If I'm just power-drinking, I'll buy it to be a good sport. But my emnity towards Miller Co really has more to do with the Caffrey's thing than anything else.

There are no real "cures" unfortunately. You can drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated, have an advil or two, but other than that there's not much you can do (preventing hangovers is the way to go!). There are tons of things people think works for them but the root of the problem is dehydration so really just make sure you are drinking lots of water or gatorade and you'll eventually be fine.

If you managed to read all of that before giving up it would appear that you are already on the road to recovery

I definitely drink a lot of water and Gatorade if I'm able to walk to the store. But I also heard that greasy meat, such as a hamburger, somehow helps. I don't know if this really helps or is just an instance of indulging one's desire for greasy food after a hard night of drinking...

And why is it that one has cravings for greasy food when hungover? The latest book by Irvine Welsh (guy who wrote 'Trainspotting' - "Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs", is really great at describing how this guy's body is totally degenerating from massive hangovers which are actually caused not by his drinking, but by his nemesis' drinking. One guy feels the effects of the other's debauchery. I wish I had the ability to pass on my hangovers to people I don't like.

When I'm hungover I don't want to eat anything. I have to force myself to eat bread just to stay alive for the day
