im sharing one of these right now. i already knew the reviews before i got it so i already knew it wasn't a proper double ipa.

seems ok so far, although it's pretty odd. it's syrupy with not much going on in terms of hops until the leafy finish. it's some kind of belgian strong ale or maybe a tripel pretending to be an ipa.

update: screw the reviews, death valley was tasty, it's just not a double ipa

Migration Week and they have some BCBS on tap at a pub in Montreal, and I'm wondering if it'll be worth putting up with all those people.

They had that here in late May at some bar that is most definitely not known for having good beer. So random.

I passed. Stouts and porters are so samey to me. I can't get excited about them.

I still like them but once they reach a certain level of quality they all start tasting pretty much the same to me unless they're adding something extra (like coffee, vanilla, or whatever).

that's what i like about them. sometimes you taste coffee, chocolate, etc.

i can't wait until fall so i can start filling up on them again.

Had the BCBS.

Pretty good, but it should come with a shot of insulin. Maybe because it's summer and the place was jam packed, but it was a bit too decadent. Chocolate, molasse, lots of fig.

Maybe i ought to try it again during Winter, but it was too sweet for my taste. I find Saint Ambroise's RIS and Bourbon Barrel Aged Péché Mortel better, but probably because I prefer the charred, coffee kick to this over-the-top richness.
