Of course Porters are Ales... but from all I know it is a very different style Ale, and one that is not the norm with Pumpkin Ale. That of course is not to say that it is not brewed as a Pumpkin Ale... merely that it is not what is usually the case, to my knowledge. The Pumpkin Ales that I'm used to are lighter and crisper than what a the case with Porters.

The combination of Chocolate and Pumpkin in a Porter Style is what pulled me to it... and enticed me to pony up the extra bread to try it. I will keep the Warlock in mind and keep my eye out for it though.

I'm on the fence with Hell or High Watermelon. It's a nice beer on a hot day if you want something with a little more flavor than a typical light beer.

I say it's a good kickball beer. poop be $$$ tho.

I'm on a ton of Heart/BP Meds so I do have to tread lightly as the effects are magnified... no more binge drinking... I have to limit and select wisely, and savor greatly... so the higher octane ones do come at a cost for me.

I can usually imbibe... I just can't over-imbibe... And a good meal and patient pace have less effect on the meds; kickass beers though are not my friends any longer... Once they were my Lovers.

One of the best beers ever... Brewed with Scotch... I've had it in Paris and Rome but no longer being imported to the US, at least I haven't found it here in a couple decades... Fantastic beer and IIRC potent... A special find that I never pass up; I seek it out in Europe.

Got myself a couple nice 6oz sampler glasses for, if not just that reason, then just 'cause I don't like to get knackered all that often anymore.

Clue you in on something... Beer does even taste the same from a Tap in one Establishment and from one in another Establishment.

Hangovers are less intense with good quality alcohol.

Got drunk on Wildcat and some poopty sweet californian wine last summer... it was bad.

Yeah getting hammered and the following morning hangovers make one wonder how you can go overboard at all. LOL

Now at times even a buzz can lower my BP too much the rest of the evening... while other times there is no perceived effect whatsoever... Nowadays there is nothing better than a good couple pints of quality Crafts with good food... and nothing worse than getting a bad beer and wasting an opportunity... I will now drink Iced Tea at Restaurants that don't have a Craft Beer I want, rather than waste calories/octane on just any beer... just to drink a beer. It is really a much better outlook, when you think about it.

Just picked this up today... haven't tried it yet but it is very interesting by the description... I imagine that it will be either fantastic or putrid... Since it is a tad pricey, I'm hoping it's the former... I'll report after I taste it.

REPORTING BACK ON TRICK OR TREAT CHOCOLATE PUMPKIN PORTER

As suggested to me on here, the beer was indeed very good.

To preface this, I have to say that I would have liked it a bit colder... but that is of course on me... I took a couple bottles to a free concert in a large soft cooler kept cold with a 'six-pack' freezer cool-pack and another large cool-pack on the end... when I drank them, they were cold enough to enjoy but not cold enough to say I gave it the best taste test.

That said... it had a clear chocolate flavor not quite a strong as a Brooklyn Brewery Chocolate Stout, but definitely enough for this beer... The Pumpkin Spice was very good but much more subtle than usually found in a lighter, crisper Ale that is the 'normal' ale. To be honest for me that was not a bad thing whatsoever, as I don't like it too spiced up, but I do like the flavor present... The Porter flavor put me in mind of the Porter in Yuengling Black and Tan, which I enjoy as my extended period picknick/party beer -- cheaply priced, enjoyable flavor that kicks in quickly and doesn't go away for a good period -- The Porter was pronounced and worked well with the Chocolate and the Pumpkin Spice... It was different though than a Chocolate Stout as the Porter taste is different than a Stout's.

My next bottle(s) will be at home and colder fresh from the Fridge... and with appropriate food, not to say that the food I had with it tonight was not appropriate -- a piece of leftover excellent Italian Hoagie w/Sharp Provo & Prosciutto from Monday and a torpedo roll with good sliced turkey lunch meat and Hoagie Spread... and cheddar chips -- The beer was excellent with the strong sandwiches and to drink leisurely while listening to some nice easy jazz.

I would certainly buy it again, although I wish it were a couple bucks cheaper... not excessively priced though... and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested.

Pretty good, on the sweeter side.
