To get drunk mmm Molson Ex/Dry

Worst taste: Bud Light, Bleue. Coors Light doesn't taste bad because it's very close to water.

One of the best things about traveling the country/world is trying new beer. It is a shame I cannot travel much until I graduate. I loved the brew up in Canada. I would love to go to Germany some day.

Since I moved from NYC to the pacific northwest, I've enjoyed a treasure trove of micro-brews that, for a hops monger mind you, are some of the best I've ever had.
- ElvisLemieux

Micro-breweries are the best. I've only had the pleasure in cities other than NY, though. Montreal has quite a few, even Amherst, MA...but NY? Not that I know of. You know any around here?

I've never had it since it's not available where I live at all, but since I like strong Belgian style beers I'd probably like it. Based on descriptions of its taste I'd say it sounds a lot like La Fin Du Monde (or the other way around rather).

My kind of tread. I tried a lot of beer, from around the country and the province (Qc). So here is my choice and my for you guys who plan a visit to Montreal this summer, beer to try and beer place to visit.

Best Tasting Beer: I’m a Stout guy, so Guinness hands down. Although I realy enjoy a “Boreal Noir” or a St-Ambroise, easy to find in any grocery or “Depanneur” in Montreal. La Barberie and Dominus Vobiscum Double and Triple, more hard to find.

Best “Getting drunk” beer: Molson Ex or Labbat 50 for commercial beer. Coup de Grisou, from brasseur RJ is also one of my favorite.

Worst Tasting: Molson Dry, Black Label, Labatt Blue (any), Coors (any), Budweiser, Stella Artoi, Heineiken.

If you go to a LCBO, I suggest: Innis and Gunn oak aged beer, Original Schlenkeria Smokebeer, Mill St. Coffee Porter, Ontario Microbrewed beer are very suprising.

If you go to Quebec : Don't stop to SAAQ to buy your beer, they only have La Chouffe that I recomend. Try a Depanneur. Brasseur RJ (www.brasseursrj.com), Unibroue (www.unibroue.com), McAuslen (www.mcauslan.com/).
Place to go and drink good beer in Montreal: Dieu du Ciel (www.dieuduciel.com), L'Amère a boire (www.amereaboire.com), Cheval Blanc (www.lechevalblanc.ca). All excellent.

Cheers!

I'll have to put in my vote for GUINNESS!!
Bar none, the best beer ever brewed.
Some other German and Belgin brands come oh so very close,
but again, I must say it, Guinness is #1. It goes with anything, and you could probably live off it. Try it today!

Very informative post. I shall attempt to make it to these places in June.

Excuse my ignorance...what's a LCBO (mcro-brewery?) and what's SAAQ?

They are both liquor stores. LCBO is the Ontario liquor store and SAQ is the one in Quebec. I would compare them to Premier Wines stores that are found in the Buffalo area.

Correct. And it's SAQ, I added a "A" by mistake. Very different meaning.

To be more specific.........in Ontario, the Provincial government runs all Liquor and Beer outlets. There are a few exceptions in the rural areas, but essentially Liquor and Beer are distributed by government run bureaucrats. And we all know this adds to the cost of the product, when the government is involved.

That is why many of us (within reasonable distance to Quebec) buy our beer in Quebec, and save anywhere from 8 to 12 dollars on a case on 24.

The LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) and The Beer Store are the only locations you can purchase your vice in any city, in Ontario.

In Quebec, you can buy pretty much either at Supermarkets or corner stores...............like most States in the USA.

I would have to agree with the Doppler. Tuborg is the best 'Getting Drunk Beer", that you can buy almost anywhere in the world when you are travelling.

And I also agree with the good Dr. Who. For some reason, Stella and Heinies seem to have a strange taste, but I drink them anyways.

Dude, these are not "baits"..........these are facts, you can choose not to believe them, but when there are 5000 empty seats for the opening of the second round, this is a fact. We can all see it on TV, and it is reported in the media. It is not a tree falling in the forest.

What are you, some kind of defender of the image (you have in your mind) of the attendance record for the Devils. Please, come down to earth with the rest of us who have nothing better to do near midnight on a Sunday.
