Hi beer people. For what it's worth. I just tried Weyerbachers Heresey. It's friggin awesome! It's a stout that's aged in oak bourbon barrels. Very nice. Go get yourself some. Brewed somewhere in P.A.

Quilmes sucks, but it gets better after large quantities on New Year's Eve.

In case anybody doesn't know, Quilmes is kinda like the Budweiser of Argentina. Tastes exactly the same. Nicer can design, I think.

Anyone ever have the beer called Upper Canadian? It's like $11.99 (US) a case and it scares me.

The $11.99 reminds me of Beast or Natural Ice.

Well if it sucks at least you're not out a lot of cash. I do agree that usually cheap price means cheap taste.

You americans have no right to complain on prices of beer I thought I was buying a pack of coca cola in buffalo when I roadtripped there. Pack of 30 cost me somewhere around 21-22$ !!!! WTF!!!

We get robbed here in Quebec, 6 packs are 12-13$. Thats why canadians buy strong beer, its more economical

Question to anyone living in Alberta: Do you also have a beer called Albertas Best over there? That just popped up over here and it is the cheapest (price wise) you can get, not too shabby either for the price it costs

One more beer question. Is anyone else getting the $21 case of Newcastle? They've had it on sale here (Carlilse, PA) for a week or 2 now and I'm loving it.

You, my friend are a lucky man. If I was in the same province as Unibroue, I'd probably be a raging alcoholic Besides shelling out some cash for a decent brew is expected.

Beer in Buffalo is extremely cheap, especially Canadian beer. Actually $21-22 is a bit high unless you include tax and deposit. $11.95 a case makes one wonder though.

We have that in Harrisburg. I don't remember the night very well since I was also drinking Delerium Nocturn.

By case you must mean 24? It's a shade under $44 here (and it's still worth it). The closest thing to a "sale" you get here would be a few dollars off. I'd rather not discuss our prices further though, it's too painful to think about.

Yes, it was a case=24 beers. The sale is over now so now I'm drinking either Anchor Liberty Ale or Stone Mill Organic Pale Ale. They are about $35 US and $30 US, respectively. Man, $44 is bit pricey. I wouldn't want to talk about it either.

I don't think anyone has brought up the topic of "Do it yourself" micro brewers in this thread.

About 20 years ago, here in Ottawa, a few of this "Do it yourself" places opened, and I was one of the first ones in to brew my own beer. It was great and I did it for about five years, because the price was right, and the beer was free of chemicals and preservatives and tasted great.

One batch would yield about 45 litres. The shelf life was about 40 days, so you pretty much had to average about a litre a day, if you were drinking by yourself, before the beer got cloudy and started to turn a bit skunky tasting.

There are still a lot of these places operating today, along with a lot of Do it yourself Wine making places as well. Most places you can make both wine and beer.

haven't seen one of those in N.Y. I bought my own equipment. Cost less than $150 to get started. Well worth the investment!

The beauty of this type of operation, is that you go there, brew your beer from their recipe(s) pitch the yeast, and come back to bottle in a few weeks, and all of the mess and clean up is dome by them.

The cost was, at the time, was less than half the price of what we would have paid at a government run Beer Store here in Ottawa. The beer was also better tasting.

This is one such location in Ottawa, where you can make your own wine or beer.
