Pyramid brewing (with a location and fine restaurant in Berkeley) and Magic Hat team up and brew each other's beer. Currently, much of the #9 is made right off San Pablo Ave near me. Very nice facility too, great restaurant. I can't remember what Magic Hat is making of theirs off-hand.

Originally, the partnership was purely about distribution, so most popular Magic Hat brews made here for dist to the West Coast, the Pyramid Heffe brewed there for E coast distribution, yada yada. But apparently it was really working out with that batch, so they took over most of its production.

And to take it to the final, excruciatingly boring level of detail, there's actually a chance, being so close to Vermont, that you're getting the 6%.

had some yummy beer on vacation last week, tried a lot of Quebec beers while in Quebec City then found a great Belgian beer cafe in Portland Maine
highlights in the Belgian place were De La Senne's Taras Boulba (a new and currently homeless company who use other people's facilities including Cantillon's)

An IPA for folks who don't like them... well I'd probably drink it anyway. It's hard to imagine how the complex, unfiltered malting style the Belgians are known for would work with the aggressive hopping of an IPA... but like I said, I'd gladly give it a shot.

To me it tasted like a hoppy Duvel. Sounds strange but somehow it works. I love trying new beers. Since its a combination of 2 of my favorite styles of beer, its a win/win. An amazing combination of flavors going on here. You can taste that distinctively sweet Belgian taste coming through at first. Apparently they use a Belgian yeast strain to ferment it. The citrusy american hops are present but not overpowering. I honestly can`t wait to get another 22 oz bottle. I`ve tried one from another brewer called Coranado which was good, but the Hoppin Frog is way better.

all i know is it was good.

This was my Saturday night, while watching the Flyers lose.

Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi Double IPA. - 8.2% Very hoppy. Clean finish. Easy to drink, very dangerous.

Green Flash Stout – 8.7% Roasted caramel and coffee taste. Pours heavy, viscous, drinks well with a fork.

Lagunitas Little Sumpin Extra Ale – 8.74% This one was interesting. A high hop floral scent. Tastes like the hops have been infused with orange, but not too sweet.

All 3 will get my money if I see them in the bottle shop again. I made 3 wise choices. Saturday was a good night, I was not upset about the pathetic Flyers loss at all. No Hangover Sunday.
