Do you agree with me that Coots was not invisible in the game? - jd250
What I agree with is that you have contradicted yourself. What I agree with is that you continue to use vague terms to describe a players play that don't reflect on a players actual play but more on your inability to accurately observe a hockey game. |

Yes, first just the fact that the Flyers had 27 shots on goal in the second period and there was a total of 88 shots in the game tells you there was very little defensive structure in the game, which is my definition of pond hockey. Outdoor games are toughest on goalies as we saw yesterday and we already know the Flyers lack finishers. I think people need to give Ersson a break here. I think he will be fine down the stretch. - jd250 I think there have been many outdoor games that were low scoring affairs although I don't really know. I like Ersson, but his rebound control in that game left lots to be desired. The other goalie outplayed him by a rather large margin IMO.

I agree with you. The short side goal was also a makeable save.

But wait, we just agreed that the Flyers lack finishers, so was it the goalie or the lack of finishing? It can’t be both can it? The Flyers have made quite a few goalies look like a Patrick Roy this year. There is nothing special about the Devils goalie that I saw. |
|

|
Definitely those are key factors but the Flyers had bad defensive breakdowns in the game and poor structural breakdowns in their forecheck and neutral zone forecheck leading to goals against. - MJL

He was positionally sound and had much better rebound control. I'm not saying that he is a better goalie than Ersson, but in that game he was. And yes, the Flyers can make any goalie look like a superstar on some nights, but to me that is irrelevant in this case. I mean, Smith scored on that one bad rebound that Ersson gave up. That was his second of the season. How many goals does Bastian have? That was a weak goal. Could go on, but nah. |

It’s not speculation. Hart’s career in the nhl is over even if he’s completely exonerated. No one will sign any of those guys. Seems clear from bettmans commentary on the matter. Completely distancing themselves from them. Bettmans comments come off as being from a money hungry robot worried more about sponsors and being perceived as a progressive company rather than really caring about the lives of the victims or maybe rehabilitation of the young perpetrators. Also makes me shake my head about how the hawks never really paid a price for covering up that scandal. They are a. Flagship organization in the league and have different rules.
Anyone notice what happened with Lucic? Charges were dropped but he’ll remain on indefinite leave and he’s on a 1 yr contract so hes effectively retired. The NHL does a fantastic job supporting its players when warranted eye roll. - Hextall271

I’m not arguing that it was a strong game from Ersson, it clearly was not. All I am saying is the Devils goalie was not that much better. |

Yes but the next game is not until Wednesday, so we have to talk about something. I was away for most of the weekend so haven’t been able to post much about the game. |

This adult knows that Daws had a .938 SV% in the game while Ersson had a .872 SV% in the game. You're a fool jd

I want my captain to drag his team into the fight every night. TK was all over the place in a big game! I know that isn't Coots' personality, but that is why I wanted TK as the captain. Nothing against Coots. I like him as a player. I just wish this team had a true #1 center so he could be in the proper role as #2 center. - Phillywhiteout
Its found its new crusade
badger coots because TK was slighted by not being named captain |

The Flyers had 27 shots on goal in the second period alone and many of them were very good chances! If Ersson plays better and they bury a few of those it's an entirely different game. They could have just as easily put up a 5 spot in that second period, but instead ended still down 2 goals because of Ersson and lack of finish. - Phillywhiteout
The flyers have the second worst shooting percentage in the league tied with the sharks and only better than the hawks. Quantity over quality is their mantra. Just because the flyers outshoot teams does not mean they are outplaying them. We are 56 games in, these players aren’t snakebitten. |

The Flyers lack finishers and they block a lot of shots. That contributes.
