that is valid to me. Though I would think they would prefer other options. 3 years still a lot of term for a guy who will likely regress further.

Also Calgary will not be rebuilding the GM said. So will they waste over 5 million on RR?

- hello it's me 2050

They wasted a whole bunch on Kadri and Huberdeau…so maybe…if they move Tanev and Hanifan, they may look to sigh or trade for some experienced D.

Brink and Andrae I suppose they believe will be NHL. Actually forgot about brink. The others I do not think will ever be regular nhl guys. Not with the flyers at least.

Samu I think the book is still open. Had a very good year. Will be interesting to see how he does next year. Hopefully he progresses next, not a flash in the pan so to speak.

No way you see Allison again unless just crazy circumstances.

- hello it's me 2050

For any team to be successful you need some of your young guys like that to develop into something….it won’t matter if the Flyers don’t start to have some of these guys produce in the Future, they won’t be a successful organization.

Allison is probably done in Philly..that’s just my wish list.

that is 100% shocking!!!

To an extent the flyers never have any plug in an ply guys in the ahl to call up. After all these years they have really nothing to show for it.

If there was any real progress I think we would be hearing about it on some level. Not 1 dman down there has there really been anything positive. That to me leaves danny boy gun shy about moving some current dman. Now it is probably a small % as the flyers dont want to move anyone!!!

Is there really anyone on the phantoms you can say they are counting on for the future?

Point is the AHL team needed a total flush as well.

- hello it's me 2050

The amateur scouting needs to be changed. AHL development is largely a myth. The only players who spend any significant amount of time in the AHL end up bottom of the roster types which in fairness the Flyers can’t even develop those with any frequency . The Flyers looking to resign Seeler and Walker shows how awful the amateur scouting has been.

The Flyers have to be wiling to go backwards to move forward. I don't see them being willing to do so.

Might if Tanev and Hanafin are gone. They also moved Zadarov already so they could maybe use Risto then. Eat some money and it works I believe.

I wasn’t sure at first…I liked Atkinson’s game early on…now I don’t think he deserves to be in the lineup most nights.

I guess that depends on what the definition of significant time is. There have been many players over the years that have spent significant time n the AHL that went on to be pretty good players. I would agree that the majority come straight from the draft but AHL development is not a myth. Actually the Flyers looking to re-sign Walker and to a lesser extent Seeler shows how poor their decision making at the NHL level is. The Flyers right now, have to strike while the iron is hot. They're getting press from the NHL community and praise. Good time to make some moves for future assets.

at all!!!!

On the surface it doesn't seem that hard to draft/develop bottom pair/ 4th line guys.

what ever traits the amateur scouts look at needs to be modified/changes.

Put Atkinson’s name under the “he is washed now and we’d only get a late round pick for him so we might as well keep him” category of Flyers player management.

Flyers can’t sell high. And they can’t sell low either. It’s complete dysfunction.

I guess you can say that.

It was a 1 for 1 swap. The only difference is that Jake had 1 less year on his contract.

Columbus then had to trade Jake and a draft pick for a goalie they did not resign.
The draft pick was a 6th rounder but still.

lower his minutes a tad?

Columbus got out of the contract. The Flyers still have the rest of this year and next year at a 5.8M cap hit for a player that is looking more and more washed up and I guess you can say that? It wasn't a good trade talent wise from the get go.

exactly, jake's concussion situation withstanding, they were able to get out of the weight of his contract without taking on baggage. cam was a nonfactor last year, ineffective this year and still on the books next year

Cant say he had zero value because Fletcher was the guy driving the trade bus

Konecny wasn't able to be that player, to bring that consistent level to his game or even approach that until he played 5 seasons and about 350 NHL games. Frost has played 203 NHL games and Frost's all around game is at this point in time ahead of where Konency's game was at that point in time in level of experience. Yet you repeatedly try to compare Frost to Konecny.

How about Tippett's train wreck of a game away from the puck against NJ?

- MJL

There's not a single thing said about Frost today that wasn't said about TK just 18-24 months ago. People have such short memories.

[O&B Puckcast] Friedge on #32Thoughts feels that the tide could be shifting towards re-signing Walker in part because if he leaves, the Flyers would be asking Drysdale to do things (defensively?) that he can’t do just yet. The AAV has to be right though. Flyers want low to mid 4’s for AAV…

They just can’t get out of their own way
