They haven't had a few meetings. They've had one and Frost had to initiate. Which makes Tortorella a hypocrite with his public claims to want to form relationships with players. Yes, Tortorella does bench players just for the hell of it. He benched a player who had a strong previous season after two games! LOL Last resort to what? You're hysterical. The only thing Frost needs is for Tortorella to leave him alone. Tortorella has slowed Frost's progress with his treatment of the player. That's the reality. - MJL
But Torts hasn't slowed Tippet's progress, and has actually accelerated TK's progress. So you are saying Torts is like the school yard bully that singles out a kid to pick on and make their life miserable just for the hell of it? |

Tortorella scratched him 11 times this season and last season stapled him to the 4th line in the early season. If Tortorella had his way, Frost would not be a Flyer. After all this time, you still don't get the kid. He will always take responsibility and put things on him self publicly, not matter what. Yet he felt the need to initiate a meeting with the head coach recently. What do you think that was about, discussing off season plans? - MJL
Morning cliff, can we discuss a new topic today? Perhaps some low level moves the flyers will make to solidify their playoff position down the stretch. Who can you see them acquire or look into?
Cliff do you think if Frostky stays a flyer for 10 years he has a chance to make their hall of fame? |

Yes, I think at one point Torts had to be in Frost's head, but not as as much now. But I think with a player like Frost especially, given his game is based on his ability to be creative offensively, trying to do what Torts demands centers do defensively has played a roll in Frost's inconsistent play. - jd250
That's not correct, Frost has been a solid player away from the puck going back to last season. What's contributing to Frost is feeling like he is constantly on the edge of not playing, which is likely a big part of why he went to Tortorella to make his case. It's what happens when a player is treated unfairly by a coach.

Yes, he is. You take a player like Tippet who is horrendous away from the puck and makes mistake after mistake and is the worst defensive forward on the team and he never faces any responsibility for it. Tortorella has nothing to do with Konecny's progress. That is a natural progression for the player that was happening with or without Tortorella.

you know as much as the next guy which is nothing.
what he did I find nothing wrong with in any way. More will follow suit in time - hello it's me 2050
Hopefully Gauthier will give his side of the story, but honestly I wouldn't hold my breath. I doubt we will ever hear his side. And honestly I think we know all we need to know. He made a decision to not play for the Flyers (which unfortunately is his right) and didn't have the decency to explain himself to Briere and Jones, or even meet with them. This is not how a player acts, especially in hockey circles. I think he did a lot wrong here. |

There have always been low level prospects that don't want to sign with teams. Truscott was a 5th round pick. Why would Calgary want Brzustewicz if he is refusing to sign with any Canadian team? - MJL
any thoughts on Truscott cliff? Think the flyers should look into it as can never have enough d prospects.
that player did say that, so maybe they think can convince him. |

How long had he been in the league before Torts arrived last year? His game has been very consistent ever since Torts sat him in the third period of that game early last season. I think Torts has something to do with this although it is also probably part of the maturing process of the player. |

so you know nothing, understood.
He had his agent do his talking , that is what he is paid to do. The advisor did tell them. They just didn't like the the why part of it. He told them where he was at and what his intentions were. He owed them nothing after that |

The biggest thing that Tortorella has provided this team is getting buy in and installing a structure and foundation of team play. Individually though with Konecny, that's all him.

I don't know. He has had a hell of a year, over a point per game as a defenseman. I was listening to sportsnet radio in Vancouver and they were discussing it. I have only seen it online that he wouldn't sign with Vancouver.
Not signing in Vancouver:

That is pure speculation. He told them after the World Championships that he wouldn't sign. Briere has had holes poked in his version of events by Gauthiers agent on meetings and communication. We don't know what was said or how they decided to communicate, but there was communication between each side, just not directly with the player. Which again, is the players right to be fully represented by his agent. He had no reason to meet with them when he had requested a trade from the team months prior., and from the sounds of things (again speculation) that all communictaion had to go through the agent.
If we got Gauthier for Drysdale under the same conditions, only reversed as to who went where, we all would be doing cartwheels saying he has the right and can't wait to see him play. |

Maybe 12-15. Just off the top of my head: McDavid, Draisaitl, Kucherov, Tkachuk, McKinnon, Matthews, Pasternak, Panarin, Hughes and Barkov. I would even rather have Willie Ny and Pettersson. - Minnyhock
Any list with Pasta in HAS to include TK; he is the kind of player teams build around

Briere said no communication in months, and the agent replied that he spoke with them in December and in Sweden. the agent spoke with them, not Gauthier. Speaking with the agent multiple times in the preceeding month is hardly no communication. |

The player went from "I'm born to be a Flyer" and "can't wait to finish my year at BC and start next year with the Flyers" to I don't want to play for the Flyers in a matter of months. With no explanation mind you, just trade me! Whether through the agent or directly, at least give the team reasons why you don't want to play for them out of respect, but also to give the team a chance to respond in case the player has misconceptions. He gave the Flyers none of this. No one from Gauthier's side has come out and poked holes with anything the Briere has said, never not once. All they have said is they will respond at some point. I suggest you don't hold your breath because it will never happen. |

he did give them a reason. The flyers just dont like what they gave them.
in bold see his response above
the more important factor here is a top prospect shunned what was once arguably the premier organization in hockey. That is a concern no? |
